When Jody and Fodderwing are together, something quirky and magical seems to be happening on the screen; when Jody and his deer are together the boy's emotion has a fairytale glitter; and when Jody's mother reveals a streak of humor she's so pleased at her dumb joke that you find yourself staring in disbelief--and laughing. Even Peck seems to blend into the atmosphere.

Ver esta película es tomar una bocanada de aire fresco. Me gusta el cine noir y las tramas complejas, pero cuando ves tantas (y cuando algunas de ellas son algo mediocres), ver la vida en el campo y las dificultades mucho más reales y palpables de los protagonistas se siente relajante. Además, sumado a una buena película que muestra cómo es la vida en el campo sin glamour, sin amarillismo, sino mostrándola tal como es en muchas ocasiones, sin duda es reconfortante. La trama se torna bastante seria y con mucho aprendizaje, algo brusco, pero así es el campo, por lo que es una gran película que además añade color (algo aún no común), lo que la hace brillar aún más.
