Writer-director Francesca Gregorini builds unbearable tension into scenes that otherwise risk tilting toward melodrama and brings the eye of a fashion photographer to the film's hallucinatory dream sequences.

Despite some very welcome black comedy — Jimmi Simpson appears delightfully, but too briefly, as a passive-aggressive co-worker who threatens to unravel the cocoon of delusion in which Emanuel has wrapped herself — the movie, trapped in the weeds of self-pity and skin-deep badassery, never quite earns the sympathy it so strenuously solicits.

Though its twist comes early, the payoff has a surprisingly strong emotional impact. Watch this movie here for free ****/watch-29e226-The-Truth-About-Emanuel-movie-online-free-putlocker.html

This is a reasonably sinister film. The plot became a bit predictable maybe half way through but I still found it a good watch all the same. The performances are quite good. Its very much a psychological drama/thriller, rather than a horror (or other genre). I liked the sinister sounding music used in the background of some scenes. Its also a bit atmospheric at times as well. Overall this is a mostly decent watch - not a bad film, not a great one either. I suppose its worth a watch if it sounds really interesting but don't expect it to be entirely original. Its better than it could have been mainly thanks to the special effects, music and performances. Its a little cheesy once or twice but other than that and the predictability issue, there's little to complain about.

They waste this cast and these characters on a story so conventional, so neatly wrapped up in the finale, that the real mystery is how Gregorini and co-writer Sarah Thorpe didn’t see that.

There are shades of “Lars & the Real Girl” here, but where that film skewed towards dark comedy (which helped temper its outlandish premise), "Emanuel" is almost completely humorless.

Played flatly head-on with some poetic pretensions, the concept never becomes particularly credible or appealing.

The arsenal is empty, and there’s nowhere for The Truth About Emanuel to go except — unfortunately — downhill.

What's missing, in the end, is any provocative or poignant insights into the "truth" about Emanuel; all we get are vague hints.

The story goes out of the hands of the director and the mystery that in a way seemed horror at first begins to unfold in a lazy drama that although becomes a bit sad, is never effective and frankly not worthy of your time.
