SummaryJamie Wellerstein (Jeremy Jordan) is a young, talented up and coming novelist who falls in love with Cathy Hiatt (Anna Kendrick), a struggling actress. Their story is told almost entirely through songs using an intercutting time line device; all of Cathy’s songs begin at the end of their marriage and move backwards in time to the beginning of the... The camera moves with heightened sensitivity, as if on currents of emotion, and Kendrick is infinitely winning. She’s that rare thing, a movie star with a trained soprano.

A small, shrewd movie about large, messy emotions and regrets. It is a grown-up work about people who grow up the hard way, leaving one heart in disrepair and the other in reckless forward motion. It's a sad piece, but not maudlin.

I pretty much loved it. It's a wonderful New York story but very much a movie that requires you to listen -- rather than watch for thrills. But if you let it in, it will deliver especially during it's final touching last moments. I've seen both New York casts when this was a stage musical but I may actually go so far to say Kendrick & Jordan are the best.

Even if this doesn't go down in cinema history as a great musical, it's certainly well worth a watch and a listen. Perfect for musically inclined individuals. Watch it here ****/watch-2a15a9-The-Last-Five-Years-movie-online-free-putlocker.html

Beyond scrappy, The Last 5 Years lacks a unifying aesthetic, as if this were merely the run-through, grabbed on the fly without lights, costumes or location permits. This approach does improve upon the stage show in one key respect, however, allowing us to see all those crooned-over emotions writ large on the faces of its two terrific lead performers.

A musical with almost 100% sung verse is not for everyone but Kendrick is as bewitching as ever.

Can Anna Kendrick save the movie musical with The Last Five Years? The answer is no — and yes.

Though LaGravenese's faithfulness to the songbook is perhaps admirable, the results don't quite work cinematically.

The film's structure is a reminder that being Pinteresque isn't the same as being written by Harold Pinter, and its lyrics prove that there's a big difference between something Sondheim-esque and the real deal.

Do you like musicals? But you like Broadway style productions? Do you like a story? Do you like New York City settings? Do you like great singing? Do you like beautiful people who express emotion. Then what are you waiting for? This is your movie. See it for yourself and decide. I am happy I didn;t listen to to negative reviews.

It's an interesting concept: 2 actors sing solos about their relationship over 5 years. Her story runs backward from the end, while his starts at the beginning. They intersect in the only duet, their marriage. This Off-Broadway musical has been brought to the screen with Anna Kendrick as a struggling actor and Jeremy Jordan as a successful writer. They both sing well and act effectively, but the direction by Richard LaGravenese doesn't add anything especially interesting (sometimes the handheld work is distracting). This film has appeared without fanfare and will leave the same way, but it holds appeal for those who appreciate tuneful songs, endless solos and a thorny romantic story. (Criterion Cinema only)

It's a good musical, but Jordan felt miscast and Kendrick's voice isn't strong enough. And I know nothing about directing, but the direction was weird

It lasts only for the five minutes! Recently I saw a couple of other films starring Anne Kendrick, I was not very impressed with them and so I got the same result for this one as well. I don't like musicals, especially not the modern ones, well, mostly. This is a short story that comes around 30 minutes, but with those nonsense songs, it became a feature film. Seems a few people liked it, I think they had a reason, but to me it was very boring. There was no any decent performances, all I saw was the film characters singing facing in one direction. Maybe they were looking at the lyrics board. I suggest don't go for it seeking a normal romance-comedy. If you like the musical, you might enjoy it, other than that, I don't see this would satisfy any average guy. So no offense for those who liked it, but this is totally a skippable film the year. 3/10

The Last Five Years is arguably the worst movie I've seen in many years. Both leads with their obnoxious signing and terrible chemistry make for one agonizing experience. What made this terrible musical worst than the others is that every song had the same melody. This movie is guaranteed to be one of the worst of the year and most likely the worst.
