The movie is about how a wife hides her husband from people to save his life. Watching the trailer of the movie, disturbing scenes like how a wife hides her husband in a closet and takes him to a secret place underground when a man comes near, make the movie interesting enough to make you want to watch it. I thought that at the end of the movie, the husband stops hiding and walks calmly down the street with his wife.

Una excelente película española; la trama es muy tensa y las actuaciones son excelentes. ¡TOTALMENTE RECOMENDADA!

Based on the "moles" of the Spanish Civil War, 'The Endless Trench' is the tale of a man's resistance. Through this film, the directors conceive an intimate epic representing the changes that the Spanish society underwent during Franco's dictatorship. The acting is wonderful, the screenplay is tense and impactful, and it does a good job remembering those voices repressed during decades.

A potent mix of love and fear of a man who spent 33 years hiding out in his own home. Featuring remarkable central performances from Antonio de la Torre and Belén Cuesta, and a bold cinematic language that captures Higinio’s entrapment in highly visual terms, “The Endless Trench” functions both as the portrait of the couple’s astonishing predicament and as a broader study of the changing face of Spain under a brutal dictatorship.

This is a historical fiction drama, it means that it is based on real events even though protagonists are fictitious. It is about Spanish Civil War and following years of General Franco rule. An anti-Franco guy escapes from arrest and possible execution and hides at home behind a false wall for more than 30 years. The movie is rich with dilemmas, psychological issues, merital, parental, moral difficult choices. Excellent direction and performances. The only negative point is that it is very long: 147 minutes. Still, I highly recommend it. Finally a more or less recent movie that I can recommend. Not a surprise that it is foregn: they stopped making good movies here.
