The surprise of Ted is that it goes for honest Spielbergian wonder, too, and even earns some tears.

Ted runs out of invention in its last act (the bear is coveted by a chillingly deadpan sociopath, played by Giovanni Ribisi, and the villain's fat son), but I can't think of a better movie to see if you're male and want to get high and relive your idiot adolescence.

This movie is f*cking hilarious! It’s the first feature film to be written and directed by Seth MacFarlane (not counting Stewie Griffin the untold story), and it turned out so well! Mark Wahlberg is the main star who owns a teddy bear voiced by Seth MacFarlane that he wished to life. They love to smoke pot and do drugs together and they cuss a lot! Mila Kunis, the voice of Meg, plays John’s girlfriend. And who can forget Giovanni Ribisi’s character? He nailed the role of the bad guy and was extremely good with the acting. The jokes throughout the film are quite dirty and are all extremely difficult not to laugh at! I am a huge fan of Seth MacFarlane and his style of humour, like in Family Guy. The story was very well written and at points you really feel for the characters. There is a good lesson attached to it, never let go of your best friend. This is one of the funniest movies of all time, and if you like Family Guy, you will love this movie for sure!

The comic targets run the gamut - race, religion, relationships, reality, etc. While nothing is sacred, the sacrilege comes with just enough sweetness to offset the salt.

Seth MacFarlane's comedic modus operandi is to shock with outrageousness and pander with TV and movie citations via one non sequitur after another, a strategy that leads to a few laughs but nothing approaching lasting humor.

Ted is a funny movie, with a very simple and predictable story. The characters are okay, I rooted for John, but they are all extremely simple and one-dimensional. It was nice to bring in real-life people as characters into the story. The dialogues were mostly good, but the character writing was too one-dimensional. Most of the jokes landed for me, but some were too over the top. The cinematography, editing, directing, production design, sound and music were all just okay. The acting though, was pretty good, both Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg had done a great job, with a funny voice-over performance from Seth McFarlane. Ted is an enjoyable movie, but that doesn't mean it's a good one.

this is like if a family guy cutaway gag was overdone and made into a movie, expectedly offensive and unexpectedly sad at times, good for a few laughs. this is something id watch if i were high lol :p
