This is a family drama, enacted over a quarter of a century of filming. There are layers. There is generational trauma. There are heartbreaking scenes. I don't think it is a spoiler to say that there is no wrapped-in-a-bow resolution, no 'ending' that is season-2-ready. Life, which this shows in abundance, really isn't like that. It should also be said that, as a film, in all the technical aspects, it is outstanding.
