Salad Days

Crawford has produced an inspiring primer, sure to remind viewers that the power has always been in their hands.

While the movie is best viewed as an examination of a specific place and time, it also can be seen as a celebration of a larger, more generic cultural phenomenon that one might call creative foment.

A valuable if fairly esoteric addition to the music documentary genre.

Those not particularly interested in the bands or era portrayed may find Salad Days a bit too much of a good thing. But they’re unlikely to be viewers anyway, and fans will find the documentary’s fast-paced but detail-oriented progress satisfying.

An enlightening documentary.
