There’s a weird, hedonistic thrill to seeing an entire movie filled with jokes this cheap, including gags about PMS, Sean Penn, and a Tammy Faye Bakker type (who hosts a show called Exorcism Tonight).

Nonstop silliness keeps this frightless spoof of The Exorcist entertaining enough to keep an undemanding audience happy.

For a movie seemingly written and directed by sophomore-year film students, Repossessed offers a number of laughs. Five. But it mainly demonstrates that Nielsen is at his best when leaving production duties to professionals.

Worth a few cheap pubescent laughs, but Exorcist fans will doubtless feel cheated.

Linda Blair and Leslie Nielsen deserve better than the scattershot script for Repossessed, a desperate spoof of The Exorcist that generates perhaps two belly laughs, three well-earned smiles and about 287 groaners. [29 Sep 1990, p.B7]

The only really good thing that can be said about REPOSSESSED is that it makes Exorcist II look like a classic. To hell with it.

Is this a bad movie? Is the sky blue? Short of repeating all 237 or so of its incredibly limp jokes there's no way to convey how completely Repossessed goes awry. On and on they come, endlessly: like a blizzard of stale pork rinds. [17 Sep 1990, p.F2]

A parody of „The Exorcist“ or should I say a rematch. Be warned. It is one of the movies you either like or hate. 20 years earlier Father Jebediah Mayii did an exorcism and cast out the devil from the young Nacy Aglet. However now she is possessed again and the Mayii Father is too weak to do it again. This is the set up for this horror comedy. It has also parts of a media satire. I found it enjoyable and would recommend it. Especially compared to modern parody movies it is pure gold which is sadly not a great argument. I repeat here: Be warned as it is a hit or miss movie. In my circle of friends we are a bit divided between garbage and entertaining movie. The cast is excellent with a great Leslie Nielsen and good Antohny Stark. That they got Linda Blair is a plus. I see no missteps in the cast and performance. The humor mostly works and entertains. As always you should be familiar with the original movie to get more out of it. The practical effects are well done for its time and aged really well. Overall I give an 8/10 and did warn you that it is a hit or miss movie. I think that all is said here.
