The sad thing is that there doesn’t appear to be much space for someone like Ardern in modern politics; less space than ever in fact.

Offering an eye-opening insider perspective that comes as a reminder of what conviction politics looks like when it is maintained even under extreme pressure, as well as being a celebration of feminism, Prime Minister holds appeal for audiences well beyond New Zealand’s shores.

An amazingly intimate portrait of a person who was thrown into power at an unprecedented time. I lived in Aotearoa through these years but I still found being reminded of all of that turmoil incredibly moving. Her reaction and her leadership were, and are, an inspiration.

Found this fascinating. To have such access to her term as PM during the unprecedented Covid pandemic and the worst terrorist incident that New Zealand has ever experienced. All whilst trying to be a new mother to her daughter Neve. The level of misogyny was literally laugh out loud. This was very well done and definitely showed the strain of high office on an individual and on a family if you let it.

As sympathetic — and therefore potentially biased — as “Prime Minister” is to its subject, former New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern, it’s also one of the most arrestingly intimate political documentaries you’ll see.

Prime Minister is thus an against the grain movie of its moment, out of step politically, and an intimate to the point of myopic doc that zeroes in on the personality it is profiling.

The documentary acts as an intimate study of what it means to serve others when it seems like the world is falling apart and to be a partner and mother at the same time.

That interplay between work and life gives the project its distinctive perspective and offers the most acute revelations. The lack of talking heads commenting on her enhances the intimate feel.

It all comes across as one-sided, which makes the whole thing play like a PR video rather than a genuine examination of her premiership.

Impossible to watch. A resume for her next gig at the W.H.O, meanwhile a too obvious plug for her book. Left NZ as a sinking ship. A masterclass in gaslighting

Most hated person in New Zealand. Left a sinking ship after borrowing $150bn. More homelessness, inflation, crime. Has yet to set foot back in the country. Do not be fooled. A smiling assassin.

Sick of this person trying to milk their time as PM for profit. Came in, was hapless in Government, all a big facade without achieving anything that was promised. Only got a second because people were scared of COVID. Used that to ruin the country with excessive spending and a bunch of policies never made public prior to an election. Then fled for the States as soon as she realised the public didn't like her secret agenda, before her term was even up. Now we keep getting these fluff pieces, produced by none other than her own husband? Give us a break! Come home and face the music when you're ready to reflect on the damage you caused to New Zealand.
