I have not confirmed this is Jim Carrey's first film though I had read that it was, however I can tell that it was a flop. The humor is bad and even with the 80's vibe I never felt comfortable or amused and if a comedy can't make you laugh, there's nothing else to do, and nothing else to say.

I like the idea, humor and actors while the movie in total is not that good or bad. It is a teen horror comedy and Jim Carrey's first role as main character. Remark: He is not the hilarious over the top Jim Carrey you know from later movies. This started later in his career. It is the story of the teenager Mark Kendall who is a virgin as his girlfriend does not want to have sex with him. Unbeknownst to him this made him quite valuable. When he visits a bar with his friends he meets a countess that is really fond of him. She is actually an immortal vampire but has to drink virgins blood to stay young each year. This is hard to get in modern times so Mark is a blessing for her. I stop here to avoid spoilers (The movie poster is a spoiler itself by the way). On paper this is a great set up and it works well at the start. However the movie losses momentum towards the later half. It was entertaining enough to watch but not to remember or praise. I like the cast with a young Jim Carrey, Laura Hutton, Karen Kopins and Cleavon Little. A good performance for the genre. The humor works more than it misses but I feel that they where a bit unsure what direction they should go in the movie. Overall I enjoyed the movie but forgot tit existed for years. This translate fine to a movie that is neither great or bad. Give a 6/10.

Decent movie, I could have lives without the singing though. Other then that its a pretty good movie. A vampire needs virgin blood to stay young.
