It is a shame that either Chinese authorities had a word, or producers decided to aim for brownie points by fitting No More Bets out as an anti-fraud public-messaging spot – because Ao Shen’s thriller is otherwise a snappily directed and intriguing entrée to the industry of online deception.

No More Bets is a heavy-handed Chinese thriller about the evils of gambling, the perils of emigrating and the righteousness of Chinese policing as it pertains to international online scamming conspiracies.

As a crime film, No More Bets may fall short with its chaotic multi-plot narrative and lackluster conclusion; however, as an anti-fraud promotional piece, it surpasses expectations and successfully achieves its educational goals.
