Midas Man

It’s a breezy watch with nothing insightful to impart about the group or their impact on society. But it is guided by the implicit understanding that any project about the Beatles will inevitably find an audience – and that is an itch it undeniably scratches.

It’s all a bit too sanctified and safe – lacking in rock’n’roll edge perhaps – but Fortune-Lloyd’s core performance is deeply empathic and buoys the film up as it races through the stations of Epstein’s short, sharp shock of a life.

Midas Man is never less than watchable, and it does capture something about Brian Epstein that’s honest and affecting.

Midas Man may not go on to become as influential as the individuals it has as its subjects, but it's still a decent enough crowd-pleaser that is safe, entertaining, and just the right amount of twisty and shouty.

The film is largely a competent but uninspiring telling of his tale.

Midas Man is so busy hitting the familiar beats of the Fab Four’s incredible rise that it never really burrows beneath Epstein’s skin.
