Just plain bad. I only watched the first half, after what I walked out of the cinema. I heard that the second half is better, but I've got no intention of seeing the movie again with that hope. Lingering unnecessary shots, poor acting, terrible narrative, zero appeal. The most meaningful thing in the whole first half was a guy **** himself. Come to think of it, the whole movie seems like an excuse from the director to stare at the mirror and **** to his own image. The only good things in the film were the photography and the filming, but anyways, it's something any person with good cameras and cinematographic consciousness can do.

Yeah, no, no this isn't for me. I had to stop halfway through out of sheer boredom, unfortunately, though I can see how Lisandro Alonso's unconventional western will appeal to some viewers. Jauja, like Force Majeure, suffers from its lingering shots that seem to go on and on; usually this is done for a purpose, but the only purpose I can see is to convey the scintillating beauty of the film. The cinematography is the aspect of Jauja preventing me from giving it 1 or 2 points, but however gorgeous the film is, the storyline is still lacking. Shame.

Saw this at the Istanbul Film Festival, a polite crowd, because my wife and I were whispering that back home in the US the crowd would be laughing out loud about midway through. Seemed like something some high school students may put together. Many scenes just burned up seconds for no reason. I think I was supposed to be awed by the scenery, but after a minute or two of grass waving in the wind I'm ready to snooze. Sometimes the actors seemed clueless what to do with their time. Candidate for worst film I've ever seen.
