Whether this is a good or bad thing depends on just how much 14-year-old boy you've got in ya.

Director Uwe Boll wholeheartedly embraces the film's concept, and with some fancy editing and a pulsing soundtrack, the effect really is like watching a video game.

Still the best VG movie (slightly ahead of Doom and the first MK). It's a bit cheesy and low budget, but so much fun and really captures the feel of the games. I watched the rest of Uwe Boll's movies hoping for something like this, but they were all ok at best. I wish he would come out of retirement to do a sequel to this (his best) movie.

Resident Evil 1 playstation game comes to mind. It was a game where you go inside such a house and discover things. I think watching this movie will give you the feeling of watching Resident Evil 1 playstation game. It is a suspenseful film with a good script.

House of the Dead, sadly, is so bad it's bad.

Prochnow rocks; nothing else does.

Here’s a would-be horror film that contains not one ounce of professional pride in its making, not one shred of technical competence. This is one of the worst films of recent times.

It’s cheese of the purest stripe, bafflingly bad to the point of being oddly charming in its brain dead naïveté.

Based on a video game, far exceeds expectations -- in negative ways that inspire thoughts of less than zero stars.

A cheesy good time, if you actually expected this movie to be serious, then you really don't know how these things work, this is the perfect example of a B-rated Zombie movie, it's got it all bad acting, cheesy plot full of holes, gore, and nudity, and honestly it's just fun to watch, even if you want to watch it just to laugh at it.

A fantastically underwhelming sense of production values is present but if you wish to base a score on the question "does this film entertain?", then yes, it does. There are lots of unintentional laughs that elevate it above the standard "*Genre* Movie" and the editing of actual in-game footage has to be seen to be believed. Those familiar with the work of Uwe Boll will not be surprised and, moreover, disappointed. *Best watched - with friends and possibly under the influence of alcohol*

You all like to criticize the man so much but if you look at him better, you will see a man that made countless films and we have done nothing. At least he will be able to say " I made a lot movies that went to the cinema"

I never thought it was possible to achieve so many mistakes and bad choices in a row. This movie is a monument, no doubt of it. Where did it go wrong? Oh yes, adapting a rail-shooter game as a movie. Why did no one instantly react to this idea? Anyway the worst is done. Now let's review it. Overall acting is terrible. Dialogues are one of the dumbest of the whole history of cinema. Women (excepted the cop one) are all here to showcase their breasts (and their bodies in some extent). Scenario is dreadful, unoriginal and predictable. Jokes are unfunny, dull and vulgar. Some scenes are plagiarized from 'Jaws'. Special effects, costumes and make-up are horrible. Overall lighting is a mess. Characters are over-stereotyped. It is impossible to develop any empathy for any of them. Scenes are awfully shot, with way too many cuts and inappropriate flashes of the original game. Sega company takes its enormous bundles of bills in the beginning of the movie when they accepted to show their brand during that truly indecent party. Music and original score are agressive and also inappropriate. I found pace was quite good excepted during fights which all were way too long. Don't get me wrong, despite the 2/10 it is clearly a movie that I will rewatch with pleasure because I certainly missed a lot of its flaw on the first view. I am quite fascinated by this.

As to be expected from Uwe Boll it is not a good film. The worst thing is the fact that he edits in seconds from the video game every couple minutes for not particular reason. The acting is ok and unlike other Boll films it's not so bad that it's boring. Despite bad special effects, poor directing and a mediocre at best plot it is entertaining in a " how much more ridiculous can this get" kind of way.
