Hotel is an unusual film. One gets the impression that director Jessica Hausner has experimented with this kind of work. She plays with visual effects, creating a certain atmosphere through a few, short dialogues, sounds, and scenes that always end in uncertainty. This also creates a fragmented film that seems to consist of many individual parts that don't belong together. No real story is told. The film is therefore practically uneventful and lacks any suspense. However, it offers the viewer the opportunity to think for themselves about what is meant and how one or another scene might continue. It is unusual in its style and therefore interesting, but nothing more.
