Diane is incredibly satisfying, especially at the end, with all the loose ends tying themselves together in a way that isn’t entirely expected but is kind of in your face the entire time.

Diane falters toward the end, with the story's denouement not quite living up to the provocative set-up. But it nonetheless exerts a fascinating pull that makes you very interested to see what its talented filmmaker comes up with next.

There’s an outstanding short film lurking within Diane, a sketchy, enigmatic thriller that writer-director Michael Mongillo (reworking a Matt Giannini screenplay) can’t quite fill out into a feature. Strong performances and some memorably dramatic moments suggest what might have been, had the movie been more focused.

Mistook this for Diane 2019. Nice pace and interesting story telling had me pleased. Half way through alternative reality twisted an absurd version that I expected would dissolve into a dream or hallucination and bring back the former realism... ...instead it doubled down. Wondering why someone would make this. The real mystery. I'm guessing someone in control of money forced a mid-film rewrite.
