This is no film for the squeamish.

Zemeckis is more interested here in getting us thinking (and feeling) than in telling us what to think.

Rewatching this 24 years after its initial release and it holds up. This is one of Tom Hanks's best movies

If you feel touched emotionally by this movie, you are truly human. The movie ends with Tom Hanks standing at a dusty crossroad surround by dry open fields and there is nobody around. It can be interpreted by many as an empty feeling inside such as how they feel when a relationship ends or somebody close has died. Where do we go from here now that something has ended? When he met his wife again after a long absence, it was easy to see that something was missing. After all the hugs and kisses, there was something missing that once bonded them together. Too bad it has to be called acting but it was perfect acting throughout the whole movie.

A 25-minute third act is far too short to suffice, especially when the previous two hours are as astute and technically impressive as they are here.

Here is a strong and simple story surrounded by needless complications, and flawed by a last act that first disappoints us and then ends on a note of forced whimsy.

The middle 90 minutes, which put Hanks alone on an island without voice-over narration or even a musical background, is as risky as anything Hollywood did this year.

The 80 minutes it spends on the atoll alone with Hanks make for engrossing storytelling. The film is less sure-footed back in civilization.

It will bring joy in a way certainly not intended, as one of the most gloriously and unwittingly silly films ever devised by a major American filmmaker.

I have just watched it and found ir simply amazing.
Great movie, with three different parts, all of them completely brilliant, especially the beginning

I like survival movies and this one met my needs. Tom hanks really got into the role by losing and gaining weight. It has a good emotion but the movie is slightly overrated. .

Tom Hanks really put a lot into this movie. My favorite character though is, Wilson. A classic story that was brought to the big screen with humor and sadness. This movie is kind of scary in a way too.

Long long FedEx delivery commercial ...The only thing impressed me is the box with butterfly painted on it, though, the did a marvelous job in advertising!
