Maui wowie, what a deal this is! It’s like Alien meets Pumpkinhead meets Gingerdead Man. Must say, I quite enjoyed it. Great performances all around. Sufficient visual effects. Artful in their thrift. First 35 minutes particularly well constructed from a writing standpoint. Great satire re: theater nerds. Nice to see what the kids have been up to.

Brutal opening right from the go, can only hope for a bit of Terror with the mutilation. This is a spatterfest of gooey cut ups, so much fun wrapped in a fiendish **** yeah, the film gave me the terror my black heart craved. This should be a staple watch each new Halloween, good bloody fun, pumpkin style.

"Carved" is nothing special from start to finish, but it's still nice to look at. Or to put it another way: If you enjoyed Krampus and similar works, and keep in mind that this is nothing more than video store fare from the second-lowest shelf, you might find it quite entertaining. I wasn’t expecting artistic ambitions or a reinvention of the genre with this Huluween Original. The film will probably resonate more with a younger audience, as it feels a bit like a mix between Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Goosebumps. In any case, it definitely put me in the Halloween spirit.
