While it’s been argued that Lanthimos harbours active disdain for other people, Don reminds us that there’s a poignant streak of empathy to be found in even the most nihilistic of his stories. Hope, in Bugonia, is mostly lost. But not entirely.

Though I’ve been apprehensive about the flamboyant severity of Lanthimos’ movies, I found “Bugonia,” a chamber-piece gut punch, hard to shake.

It is tragically funny. It is touching a lot of themes that are relevant.Yorgos did an amazing job in directing this film(Oscar worthy). Jesse gives a Powerhouse acting and should have been nominated for an Oscar. The set production is amazingly detailed. Emma is new gen titan in acting. Beautiful casting and costumes. It is a must watch.

The elites showed the true shape of the earth in this movie. Not entirely accurate but showed a firmament where the main evil character busted it and all humans died by oxygen deprivation. You can see there’s two moons. And they showed that Antarctica surrounds all the other continents as the outer rim icy and large continent. Earth is indeed flat!

Riveting, unhinged, and sardonic to its honey-soaked core, this is another Lanthimos-Stone winner. (With a great opening-title typeface, to boot.)

Bugonia’s provocative premise doesn’t yield a sci-fi thriller. The film instead offers an intimate, unhurried exploration of human cruelty.

At once uncomfortable and compelling, Bugonia builds toward a wild and misanthropic final act that plays like nothing less than a sincere rejection of humanity itself. By that point, Lanthimos has kind of made it feel like we have it coming.

The world isn’t pretty, and Lanthimos is sounding the alarm. If only he would tell us something we don’t already know.

It’s not a cookie cutter superhero film or predictable horror film. That’s the good news. The bad news is that it’s form without enough content.

Entertaining but the plot was not as gripping as I had hoped. Glad they went the direction they did with the ending

Far from having the same emotional impact. I had high expectations with Lanthimos directing the Irish version of 'Save the Green Planet', the South Korean film on which this remake is based. The cinematography is mesmerizing; the photography is beautiful and draws the viewer in from the very first moment, accompanied by a soundtrack that is both atmospheric and pleasing to the ears. However, I don’t find the initial sadism of the original, and the aggression is much more diluted here, though it is still present—and in fact, it is what gives the film most of its strength. This version takes an approach I wasn’t expecting, focusing heavily on social and political critique, which left me somewhat disappointed, as I had hoped for a pure science fiction experience. The plot holds together through fairly predictable decisions. One thing I didn’t understand at first was the inclusion of a character like Don (Aidan Delbis), which raises questions about the need for such psychological portraits. It doesn’t bother me, but it wasn’t what I expected; I had been hoping for two completely eccentric, off-the-wall characters. Some differences from the original are successful and give the film its own identity. The soundtrack is immersive and fully draws me into the story. Neither Emma Stone nor Jesse Plemons stand out; I didn’t feel their charisma. The symbolism and abstract elements are unexpected, though relatively coherent with the tone. 'Bugonia' doesn’t disappoint, but it does leave the viewer with mixed feelings.

Photography is great. But that's unfortunately the only thing nice about this movie.
