While the film has all the makings of something that could easily be overly saccharine because it’s so predictable, Blue Miracle manages to be a rather charming family-friendly affair.

Thanks to the taste and shrewd judgment of director Julio Quintana, this funny, heartwarming movie provides just the right combination of adventure, character-driven humor, spiritual depth and inspirational uplift.

WONDERFUL MOVIE! It’s a blessing to see actual GENUINE movies with great messages still being produced. 10/10 for me. I LOVED it.

Inspirational true story that’s enjoyable for the whole family! Terrific cinematography and who doesn’t love Dennis Quaid?

It’s the sort of old-fashioned string-puller that when done well is hard to resist even if we know the strings are being pulled, like we’re aware of the bait but powerless to resist.

Julio Quintana’s likable family film misses nary a cornball trick in Hollywood’s underdog-drama playbook, and just about pulls it off.

A single decent twist and a pleasant lump-in-the-throat finale are what you get for your time, here. Not much, but not a lot of family friendly movies do better.

The problem isn't that this concept has been reworked to death, but that Quintana and co-writer Chris Dowling (the scribe behind Christian dramas such as Run the Race and Priceless) fail to mold it into a winning catch.

Gratingly sentimental and simplistic, Julio Quintana’s Blue Miracle, set in Cabo San Lucas in 2014, turns a potentially compelling underdog tale into a sermon. But if you’re in the mood to see Dennis Quaid learning and growing — and engaging in sappy conversations about fatherhood — then step right up.

Es una historia verdadera muy agradable; los actores son decentes y la trama está bien; mis mejores deseos para la Casa Hogar de Cabo San Lucas.

A man who runs an orphanage in Mexico (Jimmy Gonzales) is faced with closing down unless he can raise a lot of money. As the plot would have it, there’s a big prize fishing tournament in the area and a group of his boys becomes the crew for the crusty captain (Dennis Quaid). There’s a sweet energy with the kids providing a smidgen of personality, but the earnest approach and simple, predictable story might appeal to young audiences and their families. Interestingly, the film is set in Mexico but even the natives speak English with occasional lapses into Spanish, which makes no sense.

due to lack of decent movies in netflix which vulgar words, sex and drugs gun, this is actually quite decent. we watched to see dennis quaid again. now he is just old and grumpy and wrinkled..... robert redford? it was quite heart warming and not cheesy because it touched on very relevant subject of the 'proud poor' mentality. we were shocked that there are still angels in this torn world to put up with caring for the less fortunate, when the rest are suffering just as much. the only heartache are the poor marlins, especially the one they dumped back into the sea... making us wonder whether it's a true story after all.
