A bachelor party weekend goes awry when Bachelor, Joe finds out his fiancee has fallen in love with another man. After hearing this news his friends scheme their way to fix his broken heart. Big Bear is a vulgar experimental comedy with a twist. This film is fun and engaging to watch! Big Bear to my surprise was the perfect balance between drama and comedy. Joey Kern’s film not only is filled with crude humor but teaches us the importance of new beginnings.

You can tell there are some experienced people behind this project! The actors do an excellent job entertaining the audience in ways that surprise you and make you laugh for the entire duration of the film. The editor, Franklin Peterson, shows a master craft and domination of his role in the project. And Joey Kern, the writer and director is the one that joined them all together to make this an incredible experience and a film worth watching!

One of the best comedic Indie films that I have seen thus far! Big Bear was a thrill from start to finish and really showed first time directory Joey Kern’s many talents. The fact that he wrote, directed, and starred in the film blew me away because the laughs never stopped coming. My favorite part about the film was the hilarious bond that the friends had, as well as the moments of anguish and self discovery. I would highly recommend for comedy lovers!

This movie was hilarious and super real. It just felt personable yet it was made with quality. Joey Kern’s writing and directing made the relationships feel really real in a way I wasn’t expecting from a comedy. Usually in a male group centered comedy, the vibe is a little more frat brother which is what I expected from this movie but maybe it was the serious elements of the movie but these felt like actual friends. I would definitely recommend this to any one who likes comedies or dramas.

Successfully capturing a unique blend of both comedy and drama, writer and director Joey Kern develops and exceptional storyline that is as exhilarating as it is engaging. Not only does this film contain an exemplary cast, but it falls nothing short in the visually appealing aspects of the film. Taking full advantage of the serene nature offered in the California mountains, Kern displays breathtaking scenery throughout the entirety of the film. As a whole, I would really recommend this movie to those that like getting a good laugh.

As a fellow-lover of the show Happy Endings, I was left wanting more when the show was cancelled. Seeing Zachery Knighton on the list of main characters for Big Bear was one of my main motivations for watching the comedy. Joey Kern did not shatter my illusion with his combination of a close group of friends and a weekend-gone-wrong. The film had me laughing along while still wondering what the boys would do next. This is the type of movie that you can just watch over and over and find a new joke waiting for you.

This is one of the best indie films I’ve ever seen because of the wide range of humor and the incredible acting. This buddy comedy works so well because of the casts amazing chemistry that bring out the best in each of the actors. I don’t think there is even a character that doesn’t bring some type of humor to the film, and each in a different way. There’s a cop who makes a few appearances in the film, and even he brings some humor to the movie with his dry wit. This is a fantastic film.

Actor turned writer and director, Joey Kern takes his first big budget film Big Bear and portrays the humor and heartache of a breakup and pushes it further by bringing a kidnapping into it. Joey Kern writes a tale, with him as the bachelor, and brings the forefront of all of the emotions that anyone in that situation would go through – anger, loss, sadness. He keeps the story from being generic by adding the kidnapping of Dude (Pablo Schreiber) and this adds a sense of tension and comedy to the situation and brings a fresh spin to a trite genre of buddy films.

Joey Kern really made himself known with this film. It was comedic but with dramatic elements that would pique the interest of lot of different audiences. Not only was it about a bachelor party with the bros gone wrong, it heavily touched on enlightenment and self-discovery that many people would appreciate. I applaud him for being able to incorporate both themes and still be able to create a well-rounded movie. I really love Joey Kern as an actor, director and writer. I’d recommend this film to anyone looking for an intriguing dramedy!

From the few indie films that I’ve seen, this one is fantastic. You would have thought that a big production company had produced this with the way it was filmed. This was an outstanding directorial debut for Joey Kern. He was able to capture the vast and beautiful landscape of Big Bear while providing the audience with many laughs from the raunchy comedy aspect that was able to coexist. Great plot, and hilarious actors, a must-see!

What would you do if your best friend kidnapped your ex-fiancée's, new man? I know if my best friend did that I would probably react just as Joe (Joey Kern) did in the movie. I had a blast watching this comedy. It has an excellent, charismatic cast who bounce off each other's ridiculous banter. Definitely a good rewatch movie!

Big Bear is a brash, bold blast. It has all of the comedic sensibilities of movies like the Hangover and the out-of-nowhere emotional moments of Madea. It’s the perfect blend of comedy and drama that leaves you with plenty of quirky knee slapping scenes and tear jerking reality. The pacing of the movie is so quick you breeze through the 87 minute run time without realizing it. In fact, as soon as the movie ended, I was hungry for more of the wacky antics with Joe’s dumb drinking buddies. The movie takes advantage of its location in the sunny California mountains of Big Bear Lake with plenty of pastoral shots that make you take in the majesty of the scenery. From the wild antics to the beautiful scenery, you’ll be enjoying Big Bear from cover to cover.

For all the people who need a good laugh, this is the film for you. Joey Kern’s writing is hilarious and Pablo Schreiber and Adam Brody keep the laughs going. For his first film as writer, director, and actor Joey Kern does a very good job. My favorite scene is when they scramble trying to talk to a cop after a long night of partying, laugh out loud comedy from start to finish. Worth the watch!

What defines a “good” comedy, is a films ability to create and maintain a plot that viewers can relate to or even “get behind.” This unique quality is used brilliantly in Joey Kern’s new comedy, Big Bear, staring Pablo Schreiber (Orange is The New Black), Adam Brody (The O.C.), Tyler Labine, and Archery Knighton. The film, perfectly depicting a bachelor party gone wrong, throws you never ending one liners and witty comebacks that are guaranteed to make you laugh and maintain an interest. The most admirable attribute of the comedy was its ability to be outrageous and comical and still lead to a realistic resolution of self-discovery and forgiveness that conclude the movie. The dry and sarcastic humor that keeps the film inexplicably unpredictable is more than satisfactory. I thoroughly enjoyed Big Bear and highly recommend watching with friends!
