Believer has a well-told, entertaining story sustaining a running time 20 minutes longer than “Drug War.” With the extra space, Lee explores the motivations of his two protagonists, working toward similar ends for different reasons.

Believer may be more impressive around the edges than at its core, but that doesn’t prevent it from delivering a pretty solid two hours of action and suspense that’s muscularly directed by Lee and stylishly shot by Kim Tae-kyung.

This is a fairly slick action thriller film, with lots of visual effects and tense moments. I don't think I fully followed all the plot points but its an entertaining watch all the same. Not especially remarkable but certainly not bad either.

-By the numbers narco plot Wasnt sure what to expect coming into this but this is one the rare occasions where style really does outweigh the substance! While it doesnt bring anything particularly different to the genre, it was clearly made with love and care. Overall I was very entertained by Lee Hae-young's Believer.
