Coraci has given us a film that is not only amusing, but well-acted, and not only well-acted, but gorgeous. Micha Klein's animated transitions alone, which are used to signal each change in location, are wondrous and lovely to behold.

Sails along on a slipstream of pleasant scenery, amusing incident and the boundless charms of its appealing leading men, Jackie Chan and Steve Coogan: It's an unexpectedly buoyant spectacular.

Even though this movie isn't the greatest, I must admit that I was pleasantly delighted by it. I really found myself giggling as we embarked on our global trip. Since there were so many supporting appearances, it was exciting to see who would appear next. Jackie Chan is a genuinely gifted actor. The brutality was a little lighthearted, but the results were real. I liked how each nation became magical as they departed for the next.

Takes plenty of liberties with the material and never generates much genuine excitement, but provides an agreeable ride without overloading it with contemporary filmmaking mannerisms.

Not even Chan's imaginative fight choreography redeems this folly.

It livens up a bit in the last reel when Fogg’s inventive brain pulls out all the stops to try to win the bet, but by that point you'll be too jaded to care.
30
Jules Verne's novel has been flattened into a standardized Jackie Chan vehicle.
25
It's been turned into a stupid kung fu movie.

The stagnant machinery of a frantic voyage: A 3.0-star "vivid" but exhausting drift through slapstick geography.2011(3.0)I watched "Around the World in 80 Days" (2004) in 2011, and it remains a functional 3.0-star record in my archive—a "vivid" but ultimately "stagnant" exploration of adventure that failed to provide a visceral "revelation." While the production attempted a "sensational" and high-tension rhythm by infusing Jackie Chan’s "raw" martial arts choreography into the classic Verne narrative, the narrative rhythm felt 100% mechanical and overstuffed, following a "pathetic" trajectory that lacked the "chewy" intellectual depth of my 5.0-star pillars. Seeing the "vivid" but "stagnant" cameos and the "pathetic" slapstick humor **** the fourth wall of my immersion; it felt more like a "stagnant" theme park ride than a "sensational" act of storytelling rebellion. Although the visual scale attempted a rhythmic energy, the emotional payoff felt too "stagnant" and superficial, leaving me in a state of "silent frustration" at its reliance on "pathetic" spectacle over substance. The 95% preservation of my memory is dominated by the rhythmic, "raw" stunt sequences and the "vivid" but "stagnant" pacing of the travel montage, creating a journey that felt more like a "pathetic" distraction than a "sensational" cinematic scar. Unlike the "vivid" soul of "Man of Steel" or the "raw" tension of "The Illusionist," this encounter provided no permanent, "sensational" shock to my system, leaving me in a state of "silent frustration" at its "stagnant" execution. It stands in my 2011 record as a "vivid" exercise in early 2000s blockbusters—a 3.0-star artifact of rhythmic unevenness that remained too "stagnant" to reach the "sensational" heights of my most cherished psychological archives.

Decent entertainment, but forgettable.
The look of the film feels very Disney. It is all very much orientated towards satisfying children.
