This is a film full of scenes that would be easy to overplay, but which Schwarzenegger tackles with understated perfection. Truly, this is quite unlike anything else he’s ever done, and brilliantly so.

Aftermath can’t quite sustain its controlled tone, relying on operatic melodrama and limp plot twists as it concludes in an uneasy resolution.

La actuación de Arnold fue impecable. Me parece que es su mejor película hasta la fecha. No me quedó claro si el culpable fue efectivamente el del control aéreo, quizás un flashback a media película o al final hubiera ayudado.

Not about the plane crash, but the aftermath of the event. The best part of this film is it was based on the real. This is the story that follows after the event of two planes crashed head to head in the mid air. Focused on Roman, the one who had lost his wife and daughter in the crash and the Jake, an air traffic controller who was on the duty on the day. Roman was not happy for how the officials treated him, and the declaration of the result of the event. On the other hand, Jake was mentally disturbed, that's affecting his family. A year later, when everything was coming back to normal with a book on the plane crash is getting released, a twist in tale emerges and fast forwarding to a few years, the story comes to an end. There's no judgement on the crash, that's how the story carefully evolved. Like how it happened and whose fault it was. If you understand the title properly, you won't ask that, because the film is not about that. It was the aftermath of the crash. Like how people related to the event coped with. I think decently written screenplay with good performances. But the film was slow. Everything about the film was the opening and the end parts, the rest of the film was just a drag in the name of gap between the events and letting us know more about the film's two main characters. So, overall a simple film, but depicting the real event matters here. Once viewable film, especially if you are the actor's fan, then the percentage goes up. Though expect less from it or from him, as he's not young anymore and this film is not an action flick, just a decent drama. 6.5/10

The first third of Aftermath is stripped to emotional basics (one man seized up with grief, another with guilt), and it delivers quite a jolt. Sadly, as the characters converge, the rest of the movie loses force; it slackens and then rushes, and the time frames feel out of joint.

Unfortunately, he (Schwarzenegger)doesn’t quite have the chops to do full justice to the material, and his decades-long, popcorn movie image proves a further impediment. Despite the seriousness of his intentions, Aftermath doesn’t pack sufficient emotional punch.

In fact, Aftermath only becomes interesting if considered as a dour subversion of the daughter-and-wife revenge scenarios of Schwarzenegger’s action movies — as star text, in other words.

The film evokes nothing more strongly than a live-action adaptation of a Crate and Barrel catalog.

A very depressingly emotional story based on actual events with a really great combination of acting for Arnold and Scoot McNairy, with a surprisingly unexpected ending. I'm enjoying these types of roles Arnold is experimenting with lately.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was absolutely incredible in this, he shows great range and depth and really proved that even at this stage in his career, he can be a dramatic actor even though hes known more for his action films. I found most of the performances to be very good honestly, but where this film really falters was the writing and the screenplay. If they actually stuck more to what actually happened then the film would have had more opportunities to shine. With that being said, this is an above average film with a great performance from Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Who knew Arnold Schwarzenegger could actually act? With Maggie and this one he did not reinvented his career but at least he has learned to do something else. I mean he doesn't have nearly the necessary range or talent to fully carry this kind of film but he does the best he can or at least the best I've seen from him in decades.

This is the first movie that I didn't like Arnold in. Not for his acting or anything, but more to do with the character. He's always a nice presence in movies, this however, gets to a point where I couldn't fully get behind the character actions and how he took things way too far. Then again, maybe he doesn't ask for sympathy. I guess watch the movie and decide for yourself. Not recommending the movie, but seeing if any is feeling the same as me.
