This is a serious cringe comedy - a little bit like 'Meet the Parents' only more upper middle class and set in France, rather than the US. I couldn't not feel sorry for Jack, played by Adam Goldberg. He plays the socially awkward type very well and given he isn't fluent in French, its not hard to see why he'd feel a little uncomfortable (a 'fish out of water' type) given the situation. The series of events that happen are sometimes surprising, sometimes shocking and often cringe or laughter enducing. There's narration provided by Julie Delpy, who plays Marion and also directs this film. Not a bad film to work so much on, good for her I say. I would definitely recommend this film, yes.

Most actors are afraid of repeating themselves in the fear of becoming a stereotype they might be unable to shake off. Deply however seems unphased, having appeared in a number of these small budget films about a snapshot in the lives of a couple, showing us the romance, the humour and the troubles in equal measures. 2 days in Paris is one of her first attempts in directing and manages to emulate the essence of the Before Sunrise/Sunset films that are so dear to my heart.

Quirky, real and funny. Although it sometimes verges on being a little too out there the main story feels like a truthful representation of the highs and lows of two unique people in a relationship, whilst being completely hilarious. Julie Delpy and Adam Goldberg clearly have chemistry (they were together in real life before the film), taking the film from good to great, It'll be interesting to see how 2 days in New York turns out without Goldberg and Paris as a character of its own

Julie Delpy and Adam Goldberg are perfectly paired in this comedic take on a French-born photographer bringing her American boyfriend home to meet the family in a move that pushes their relationship to the limits. The oft exaggerated cultural differences between French and American cultures spark some unique and genuinely funny laughs. Trips to the market, an overly liberal view of sex, overly friendly Frenchman, and opinionated taxi drivers all contribute to what Goldberg called "the most un-romantic trip to Paris ever." Perhaps the worst part of the movie was the final message, which appeared in only the last three minutes of the movie and basically asserts that at some point in life you will decide that you no longer have the energy for another break-up and that it would be altogether easier to simply settle down and stick it out. Call me crazy, but I would have expected a more romantic ending to a French movie. Nevertheless, the unique humor is genuinely funny and the interactions between the four main characters (Delpy, Goldberg and Delpy's parents) are a lot of fun to watch.
