The Occupation is definitely flawed (especially on the technical end) but on the other hand is a smart and peculiar little immersive sim with an intricate and thematically delicate plot and a lot of interesting ideas and mechanics.

A superb, smart and taut detective thriller lay beneath the stack of technical and design issues that The Occupation has, it's just a shame that, in its current form at least, those shortcomings are at the forefront of the experience.

The Occupation doesn't live up to its promises. After one hour of investigation, the player won't even try to understand what's going on anymore, as the narration feels way too elusive. Not to mention all the technical issues (framerate drops, glitches) and the bland art direction. It's a shame, given the interesting themes mentioned in the game.

Une belle idée , journaliste et on doit trouver toutes les preuves en fouinant et en interrogeant ,mais pas mal de bugs de gameplay de la lourdeur et quelques trucs incompréhensible comme ne pas pouvoir sauvegarder durant un chapitre. Bon petit jeu malgré tout.

Trotz 80er-Setting ist derzeit wohl kaum ein Spiel näher am politischen Zeitgeschehen als The Occupation: Nachdem in London offenbar ein Einwanderer eine Bombe gezündet hat und dabei 23 Menschen starben, schreit Großbritannien nach Vergeltung: Der sogenannte Union Act soll alle Migranten mit sofortiger Wirkung des Landes verweisen. UK versinkt im Chaos – während Ihr als investigativer Journalist am Tatort nach der Wahrheit sucht. Das geschieht in reiner Schleichmanier, ganz ohne Waffen – dafür mit umso mehr Zeitdruck. The Occupation läuft nämlich in Echtzeit: Während Ihr im Regierungsgebäude nach kompromittierenden Daten sucht, tickt erbarmungslos die Uhr – denn in nur vier Stunden müsst Ihr durch sein. In verschlossene Räume gelangt Ihr derweil wie in Dishonored: So besorgt Ihr Euch von irgendwo eine Schlüsselkarte, nutzt alternativ einen Lüftungsschacht – oder schlüpft mit der Reinigungskraft rein. Beim komplett verdeckten Ermitteln wird aus Spannung jedoch gerne Frust: Die künstliche Intelligenz der Security ist unberechenbar, es gibt keinen Indikator, ob man Euch sieht oder hört und Zwischenspeichern ist nicht. Dennoch ist das realistische und äußerst immersive Indiespiel für Genrefans ein Geheimtipp.
