Your view of Strayed Lights is going to depend on what kind of player you are. If you love playing defensively, then you'll like what's on offer, as it mostly works with a few hiccups. If you're more of an attacker, then the slower-paced fights and lack of minion variety doesn't make for an appealing adventure. The game is short enough that it doesn't drag on for too long, making it worth experiencing for those who are intrigued.

With its unique twist on combat and a great sense of style, I went into Strayed Lights with high hopes. However, while its presentation and challenging parry-centric boss battles certainly shine brightly, its largely nonexistent story, a lack of enemy variety, and frequent crashes caused that light to fade well before the conclusion of its four-hour runtime. If you’re simply looking for a novel take on the action-adventure genre, maybe pick this one up once it goes on sale. For anyone else, Strayed Lights is tough to recommend.

Strayed Lights is a prime example that budget doesn’t make the game. The love of their craft and the feelings invested into the project by the developers is what sets the game aside from many other titles. Awesome stylization, unique soundtrack and a majestic mixture of colors immediately highlight its true beauty that was somewhat dampened by the game's technical side.

A bit of an odd one. It has style, it has mechanics, but both lack a bit. The look of the game is great, but some areas close up look pretty bad. The big mechanic in the game is parrying, that is the game. This is really fun, but a bit janky at times. Overall though it works well. There are some really good boss fights, which is the core of the game. Some areas to explore and collect stuff to upgrade your guy, but it's kind of whatever, the boss fights are the focus. Overall, for the $4 bucks I got the game for on sale, it's well worth the price of admission. Fun fights, fun combat, good atmosphere. It's just a bit janky, which you expect from smaller studio and a cheaper price tag. Worth checking out. 7.5/10 (rounded up)

(MY SCORE : 7.3 /10) Even though the gameplay is short, this Action-Adventure game is quite exciting and has a unique combat system. Yup, we are required to be more dominant in doing Parry than Hack and Slash, and also have to adjust to the opponent's changing body color (Matching Color), which every time a Player successfully Parries and Slash, will fill up the Energy Bar. And once the Energy Bar is fully filled, the Player will be able to One Hit Kill the opponent using the button that appears. What's also unique is that every time a player successfully parries and slashes, this also regenerates the Health Bar. Even though this game is not in the Soulslike genre, this game is really challenging.

Strayed Lights is a unique game with a fresh and innovative parry-to-attack and colour switching mechanics, and the art style is pure eye candy.
But it lacks in other departments, mainly the story (which is pretty short and meaningless) and the repetitive enemies. I often found my self lost in a large open world with little to no sense of direction/ idea where to go next, which left me frustrated as I ran about in circles.
Overall a good game to try if you enjoy exploration/action games, and its well worth your time.

Strayed Lights definitely ended up surprising me, with an entertaining gameplay loop that finds the perfect sweet spot between “too easy” and “nail-bitingly hard”. Surely a Souls-like veteran might find it a little basic, but if you find yourself struggling with other games in the genre, Strayed Lights could be a great entry point. The art is also gorgeous with vibrant colours and lively animations, so there is plenty to look forward to with each new area and even though the story isn’t super deep, it’s still easy to get invested and want to meet more characters and help them on their journeys. If you are looking for an action-adventure game that provides a light, yet satisfying challenge, Strayed Lights might be perfect for you.

I loved it. It is a beautiful game, with great environmental storytelling, awesome boss fights and then there is the parry system. I could go on and on about the parry system!

I'm more the type to punch without thinking in games but Strayed Lights allowed me to discover a new way of playing and it was super fun! I found the color-switching mechanics of the enemies really interesting, it keeps you focused. It was not too simple and not too hard, really the perfect balance too keep the game relaxing and enjoyable, I play to have fun, not to get angry. Also, I find the art direction amazing, the landscapes were colorful and simply gorgeous and all that coupled with this great soundtrack made the experience even better! To conclude: super dope game, you should definitly try it

Strayed Lights is a short and sweet game exploring a unique, defensive combat experience. It can feel shallow and falls short in aspects like the music, but it remains engaging throughout its runtime.

Strayed Lights admirably tries its best to serve two masters, attempting to be a loving interpretive dance of a narrative held together with ruthless, tricky, defensive combat.

Strayed Lights is so dragged down by the almost non-existent story it almost becomes quite tedious to go from area to area during its gameplay that it’s hard to find a purpose to reach the finish line after a while.

Add those drawn-out, repetitive encounters to a world that’s kind of empty, and you can see why Strayed Lights is a difficult game to love. It looks and sounds nice, and if you’re really into dodging weaving rather than charging into battle I could see how it might be interesting in small doses, but as it stands, it doesn’t feel like there’s enough here to really make for a satisfying game.

I absolutely loved every minute of this game! The parry system with the color-switching mechanics was so refreshing, and the bosses were all unique and memorable. The simple yet profound story was perfectly complemented by the gorgeous visuals, which were incredibly colorful and beautifully rendered. This game really reminded me of other classics like Shadow of the Colossus and Journey, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a challenging yet relaxing experience

I like the fact that the game as a special look and feels to it. The story is a bit odd. I totally disliked the colour and parry system for fighting. Although I admit it was new, but was too fast for my older reflexes. And so I didn't finish it by frustration. I give it 65% but I think a younger audience will find it more engaging.
