Splasher
A challenging, sometimes punishing platformer that blends a unique hook and fun movement with clever level design that is well worth a look. Don’t let the innocent appearance fool you.
Difficult, but fair Rayman-like platformer could perhaps look nicer, but who cares, when it excels with unparalleled gameplay?
Splasher is a great platformer and deserves to be played by any fan of the genre. If you enjoyed games like Super Meat Boy or Rayman Origins you’ll enjoy the frenetic pace of Splasher and the demanding controls. You have everything you need at your fingertips, you just need the dexterity to finish what you started. I appreciate what Splasher does with the four buttons because it’s opening up the genre and experimenting with what’s possible. Another platformer where you jump through levels would probably be dust in the wind but Splasher stands out because it takes a chance with its unique, if sometimes frustrating, controls.

A really fun and replayable game that gets a lot of stuff with how few there is, unfortunately it doesn't have much going on for it. Another entry that takes this promising formula further beyond could deliver a masterpiece.

This game is raw fun. I've been looking for a fast platformer this entertaining since Super Meat Boy and haven't managed to find one until Splasher. I like that they've separated the completionist mode from the speedrun mode allowing you to focus on what's important without sacrificing other achievements. The graphics and music are fantastic and the levels never seem to feel stale. I'm about 70% of the way through the normal game at the moment so I can't speak to the replayability of the game but with the speedrunning part of it I imagine I'll be playing it for a while to come.

Fantastic! If you are a fan of Super Meat Boy or N++ or platformers in general you need to pick this game up. Level design is constantly fun and progresses as you improve throughout the game. The core movement mechanics are SPOT on; no cheap deaths, only mistakes you make. Beyond that there are different mechanics introduced throughout the game that change the way you approach levels and demands more from the player. Impeccable balance, rock solid mechanics, and a f***ing fun game to play. Not much more you can ask for!

Splasher is one of the best 2D platformers we've played in the last years, and it deserves more attention. If you enjoyed games like Rayman Legends or Super Meat Boy, give this one a try.

Much like an actual modern-day factory, then, Splasher abides by an assembly-line philosophy, piling on nuances to each previous level in a way that keeps each one at full capacity while still building an increasingly complex game.

For a first title, Splashteam has shown that they are more than capable of bringing some original ideas to one of gaming’s oldest genres. The action-packed levels offer plenty of surprises to keep players on their toes, even if a few fall flat, and the brightly colored presentation further benefits the unique title. Yet, Splasher‘s distinct lack of character is unfortunate, as even a few minor touches could have greatly enhanced the context in which all of this exciting platforming is taking place. Nonetheless, casual and speedrunning platforming fans alike will find a pleasantly surprising amount of depth and content that boosts Splasher to exciting heights.
