Quake III Gold

Still the twitchiest, best deathmatch experience, ten years on. The graphics look a little dated, but this actually works to Q3's advantage. In more recent games like Unreal Tournament 3, the scenery detail makes other players harder to see, distracting from the meat of the game. With modern AAA games going for ever-increasing complexity and "realism", this seems unlikely to be bettered except by indies (see: Plain Sight). Doesn't get a 10 because of the missed opportunity of a real update in Quake Live with new maps and better visuals, rather than just a web-based re-release.
