It's not for everyone, but for the patient type (or a raving Pokémon freak) this game could be a refreshing change of pace, and give you a few solid hours of fun.

If your a Pokémaniac then this game is definitely for you. If you aren't that big on the whole Pokémon craze, then this is at least worth a rental. Very original and very fun to play.

Without a doubt, Pokémon Snap is a game of the highest quality and brings a new genre to the N64 … but if you hate the little creatures, we’d recommend that you give it a miss.

I think the game design in this one is pretty much perfect: the pacing in which you progress, get new tools and courses and in which the world and the pokemon unfold just works right on the clock. People say you have to be patient but this game is relatively quick. It's a bit hard to find all the pokemon. Not sure if I could have gotten gyarados and dugtrio without help. But at least the hints are there. Well, maybe not for muk :( But even backtracking is fun because your head already crafts ideas of how to use your new tools.
If this game was a bit more polished I would have even given a 9/10. So this is a high 8 in my book. It's rare to see a game that works so well with its pacing.

Il primo e anche uno dei rarissimi casi in cui il mondo dei pokemon è stato trasposto in maniera naturale e convincente. 8.2/10

A delightful experience. Even with being on rails, this game is full of surprises and provides a unique way of interacting with the Pokemon in the wild.

Most underrated Pokémon game to date. The story actually does take a while to complete and is satisfying to complete. The post game content is the cream of this crop ****'s fun to get pictures of the Pokémon and try to beat your high scores on levels , and it takes a very long time to 100% the game (without a guide obviously). The game-play is smooth and works really well with the 64 controller....unlike other titles on the 64 and the button layout is fantastic! The graphics are great and have aged really well.....unlike other titles on the 64. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up on the original hardware... It's fun at it's finest

Some gamers will be quickly bored when they find out all there is to this game is snapping pictures, while others, especially younger audiences, will want to gather as many photos as possible to show their friends. Players should be warned that Pokémon Snap can be easily finished within a weekend.

It's less of a game than Pokemon Stadium to be sure, but fans of the whole phenomenon will leap right to it.

Even for non-Pokémon fanatics, this game is definitely worth a look-- if only for the strange and addictive experience of an unfolding photo-safari on a videogame console.

Pokémon Snap is a poor effort on Nintendo’s part. It is completely obvious that the game was rushed in order to cash in on the Pokémon frenzy. They could have spent six more months creating some new areas and adding all the available Pokémon into it and then it would have been a much better overall game.

I played this on the Virtual console on Wii and it is the second Pokémon spin-off I played, after Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs. This is by FAR the more superior of the two. There is just something about taking pictures of Gen 1 Pokémon that is just do fun. There is also alot of replay value, trying to get the best picture of Magikarp, Charizard or a Mew! It also shows me what games were like back in the N64 days, which is really cool!

This is a pretty fun game to pop in and play for a little while. I really do enjoy it and it is a fun little time. Some of the puzzles for good pictures can be confusing, but I liked it overall.

Pros: - Short game, good for brief bursts of gameplay - Loaded with secrets - Core gameplay loop is actually rather fun - Move character models are charming and expressive Cons: - Not even half the Gen 1 Pokemon - Final stage is kind of lame - Judging of pictures is inconsistent at best True Score: 7.5

Original concept, but the gameplay is very lacking overall. Some people find it to be a refreshing change of pace and it could be worth trying out. However, overall the game is rather mediocre.

This game has aged extremely badly. It has less than half of the original 151 Pokemon in it, and newer generations may not even get the film camera mechanics. Its original release year in 1999 was compounded by Gen 2 coming out, and digital cameras just starting to gain market traction in this time period. This game even new was starting to look dated, and feels especially dated now.
SummaryThe Professor has asked you to capture the Wild Pokémon of Pokémon island...on film! Tour the island in your ZERO-ONE vehicle and snap pictures of Pokémon in their natural habitat. Wild Pokémon are often camera-shy, so you'll have to use special items to bring them out in the open. Only the best shots will do for the Professor's Pokémon ... Read More
