A fun game that doesn't have nearly enough gameplay -- or enough replay value -- to warrant a purchase.
80
Disregard this misalignment though, and you’re left with an enjoyable aural romp which, whilst slight and, on occasions, extremely forgiving, makes up for most of its shortcomings by hitting you with damn funky music.
66
An almost total lack of innovation makes the game seem pretty dated when compared with other games on the market.

A great sequel to the first PaRappa the rapper. The story is absolute cinema it follows a story of PaRappa eating to much noodles so him and his friends have to get together do some rap battles and save PaRappa town. The multiplayer mode is a blast way pretty hard though. I'd highly recommend to anyone who has a PS2, PS4, or PS5. It's an absolute banger all the way through. It also has eight stages versus the first one six. And the music's great.

Parappa the rapper 2 is a little tough at first, but with a beautiful paper thin art style and great songs to keep you hooked with its glory.

While I understand the reasons why this game was receive with pretty mix reviews by critics at the time. I definitely don't agree with them here. This game is awesome. The music on each stage is perfect, the story is even more weird and funny than the previous game, and the gameplay just feels much better and more responsive. A great sequel in every aspect.

Sure, the story is a little weird, and yes, the music isn't quite as good as it was in the first game, but PaRappa 2 is a solid effort, nonetheless.

It's nice that this sequel let's you freestyle more often, and the scoring seems more logical than before. [Feb 2002, p.82]

So I've played it and it's actually not that bad the controls are all good all of the song too in my opinion it was worth it for me.

A very short game, which brings loads of fun. That may sound odd, but it is true.

Even without the bells and whistles that other recent rhythm-based games have offered, PaRappa the Rapper 2 is a lot of fun.
60
What began as a simple tale of a dog and the flower he loves has become a farcical, overblown imitation of a cheesy action movie with little challenge or replay value. As unfortunate as it is for gamers to be let down so early in the new year, it must be said that PaRappa 2 is the first disappointment of 2002.

Offers less gameplay than the first and lacks the ingenuity and novelty. [Feb 2002, p.154]

This game is pretty much perfect with very little to complain about. Say what you want about this game's story, but I don't care. This game will still stay in a special place in my heart. I have no idea why this Parappa game has so bad reviews. I absolutely loved this game. btw the music is great.

Very funny game, but the mechanics are a little bit weird, it is really complex to undersant how the score system works

Exact same premise as the original, but executed with a lot more care. The story, visuals and music are plenty of wacky fun, even though they aren't much of an improvement on the first title. The game-play is what it is however, just hitting the button prompts. At least in this time around, the accuracy is a little more forgiving than the original. Plus, there is a lot more reward given for playing around with your own rap/beat. A small improvement as a sequel, but not much to add. It's a very niche game, however, sure isn't without it's charm.

Whilst being very short, I loved this game, one of those games that make me take the dust off my PS2.. and somehow manage to get me hooked on it. It has very catchy music and raps, the kind that I always come back to listen again over and over. The plot is nothing epic or something, but it's very funny and keeps you asking for more.

PaRappa the Rapper 2 misses everything that made the original so great. It lacks the charm, originality, and awesome music the first had, and does little to nothing to improve on the formula to make it better than the first. Frankly it’s better if fans stand away from this game to keep it from soiling memories of the original PaRappa the Rapper.
