Mewgenics is a game with character that could share its content with many other games and still have plenty left over. If you give it a chance, it will keep you entertained for hours. I recommend it not only to cat lovers.

With its charming, cartoonish style, Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel's title offers us one of the most profound, complex, and ambitious RPG/Roguelike games of this year that has just begun.

Mewgenics is sure to be a hit with Binding of Isaac fans, roguelite fans, and tactics RPG fans. It has McMillen’s signature ugly-cute Newgrounds flash art, a toe-tapping soundtrack, and an unfathomable number of ways for players to approach its chaotic, layered grid combat — just be prepared to see many, many, many cats expire as nine lives are not included.

game is to hard and unforgiving for how goofy it is. it feels like there no point risking your cats on hour long runs for nothing there's nothing in place to help out on runs that turn bad as you might as well just kill your self then waste a hour slogging through a unfun run just to die at a dumb ass boss fight that can get 50 moves over and over. its just not worth the time or effort

what a great game. the style is very well done and consistant - i did skip a lot of the text but some was enjoyable. the gameplays really fun - i was honestly having more fun with the cat making concept i thought it was well paced and well designed. Biggest cons of the game: house building was kinda annoying, ngl the absolute worst part of this game is finishing a run - and ur whole inventory holding was shuffled around with the like 20-30 items u get on a run. also no rarity on items is annoying. the rng aspect is kinda annoying but im not that bad its the part that makes it unique - the "1 cat 1 run" makes it a little sad too - u get the perfect cat and level ups but it really doesnt matter - this to me makes the game a lil harder to enjoy. also classes are objectively unbalanced - i cant believe or know why the mage even exists when the archer does what they can do 200x better. i was extremely suprised though that charms and status effects work on bosses, some boss battles are completely trizialized by some really low level skills which is suprising. I wish there was a harder mode - the most fun run i had in this entire game was a 1 cat archer run, i sav scummed and reset about 200 times to beat the throbbing king - i had like 5 negative quest items involving the gun that kills all team mates, the smiley face on the other cat, i loved it - felt like fe3h levels of difficulty where its turn based - u need to make the Chess best move every single turn for like 30+ turns thinking creative and getting a little lucky i wish there was more of that challenge but now that I have 40+ cats with 7 all stats, and 10+ positive mutations, i can literally play 5x speed and do each battle in 30 seconds no thoughts on hard mode. The inventory system really isnt fun tho - i have 50 things to pick from - finite slots, all for a run that i know is going to be so easy theres no point of even equiping anything - but i know ill be getting like 30+ items that run and itll scramble my inventory. Also pressing r on the map resets the whole thing - thats super annoying ngl. DESPITE ALL THESE CONS - its still a 9/10

It’s fine but the runs take too long and the upgrade system is not really fun or rewarding. I’ll come back after patches maybe.

Mewgenics deserves all its praise and more, delivering a solid monster-rancher premise with strong roguelike gameplay and packaging it all with incredible humor that only the creative minds behind Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac could pull off. You couldn’t swing a cat around in this game without smashing it into something awesome.

What more can I say? These one hundred and fifty hours have given us a memorable adventure, a journey capable of making us laugh, swear, and cheer like in a Champions League final, all while relying almost exclusively on raw mechanics and pure, simple interactions. Mewgenics is a game created by avid gamers for avid gamers, a roguelike that knows how to challenge them, how to reward them, how to speak their language, but above all, how to surprise them, inviting them to dig and dig until they reach the lowest point of a very deep iceberg. An iceberg that, as the developers have already confirmed, will continue to expand in the future.

Incredible game, the gameplay is so engaging that my boss caught me playing this game several times during my workday. It is a genius design that the main character (kitties) played by players is also the most important resource in this game, you must admit Edmund is so good at this. The "out of combat" system is kinda like Fallout Shelter, and it is a little creepy when you realized that the way how player treat these "cutie" cats happened in human history
Over all, totally worth buying if you are into Tactical Roguelike games, and the music is amazing too

Mewgenics is a turn-based roguelite that blends deep tactical gameplay with unapologetic dark humor. The action order is individual and dynamic, determined by stats and modifiers, while cats have no fixed classes: collars define their role, abilities, and progression, with upgrades chosen from random pools. Each feline can take part in only one run, making breeding and partial skill inheritance central mechanics. A competitive AI, full permadeath, and numerous random events ensure constant variety, balancing strict strategy with genetic unpredictability.

Mewgenics is satisfying, and I think the development team isn’t exaggerating when they say the campaign can last over 200 hours. Review copy provided by company for testing purposes.

Mewgenics is a surprisingly deep and unforgiving game with a strong tactical combat system, a massive amount of content, and a highly addictive gameplay loop. Its heavy reliance on RNG and repetition can be frustrating at times, but it rarely lets go of you. For players who enjoy complex systems, tough decisions, and pitch-black humor, this one is absolutely worth diving into.

The style, writing, and visuals are pure McMillen and if you've been hankering for more of that gritty and sometimes puerile 2010s humour from The Binding of Isaac, Mewgenics delivers in spades.

Mewgenics is a truly enormous game jam-packed with secrets and synergies, surprising and rewarding even when its pacing frustrates.

It doesn't show anything new for the genre itself, it was fun for a few hours but after seeing that most of my runs were basically the same ı quicly got bored out of it, as ı am not really a fun of roguelike games **** cat breeding part was nothing like ı expected, it stays too shallow and random, it wasn't something ı was excited to do let's say. It also has the worst part of any roguelike game ı play, ''RNG'' for no goddamn reason, just to make the game longer.I want my skills and strategy to be put on a test not my luck.I don't want to wait for the right cat and items, or having to work for that to happen, because it is simply not fun. I am not here to gamble, this is a turn-based **** is cute though.

The fact that many cr1tics rated the game 100/100 or very close to it should make you think. The game is undone. No balance to find, waay too much randomness for a supposed strategy game.
Regarding McMillen, this game is truly heartbreaking. After Legend of Bumbo flopped, then was never fixed, this is the second fail. It is a fail. But critics vote it 100/100 .... I think this quote says it best: "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
