Nothing more than a fun, nostalgic 2D platforming romp that will only appeal to true hard-core fans.

This is 2D action gaming at its best and I'll take this over almost any 3D adventure game or platformer any day of the week.
Solid and consistent. If you loved 4 then you're almost certain to love 5. On the other hand if you've always hated Megaman then move on as this is truly more of the same.

It's classic side-scrolling action like it was originally designed to be played. The two selectable characters and brain-spraining puzzles mean you'll get more than your money's worth in replay value.

Better replay value than the classics with the downside of having it too alienating for newcomers. Zero's combo mechanic is a major upgrade from X4 and I love how they continue to perfect his combat style with later entries. The two new armour sets are completely useless and you can beat the game without it no problem

The challenge made for a frustrating game, but this keeps you driven to win. The graphics are nice, and the sound is good but the gameplay is what REALLY makes MMX5 worth playing.

Every aspect from the story to the sound will be completely familiar to anyone who's dabbled with the series before, and while this latest adventure doesn't do much to advance the series, it's a fine little game nonetheless.

Fans of the classic 2D games will no doubt find much to love in X5, while those who can't get into the aging conventions and mechanics probably won't care a great deal for it.

Happy Puppy
It's a bit of a step backwards, taking the more exploratory 3D incarnations into consideration. Still, if you're looking for some chaotic old-school 2D side-scrolling mayhem, it's worth checking out.

What a weak end to a weak series. I don't try to keep it a secret that I don't like the X series, but if there is any proof it should have ended, X5 would be it. With a nonsensical story, Sigma yet again showing up unannounced for no reason, and a doomsday mechanic that doesn't really work well, Mega Man X5 is a mess when it comes to story or logic for that matter. The only thing that makes this game even remotely fun is that Zero is almost as fun to play like in MMX4. Also you can duck! DUCK! With a horribly balanced checkpoint system and large damage from enemies, MMX5 is a decent game to play if you have a power up character, but a slog otherwise.

Unfair level design and the "hours to collision" mechanic is the worst thing they could have possibly done to a mega man x game. You can't even play every level twice prior to getting into the final parts of the game. So basically you can't play the game at your own pace, or switch levels if you are having a tough time, or get the collectibles you want, cause who likes to have fun playing a video game anyways. P.S. Alia is worse than Navi
