It isn't quite the game we were hoping for, but taken as another Mario sports game rather than a baseball sim, it's as solid and enjoyable as you'd expect. [JPN Import; Sept 2008, p.52]
80
A step back for Wii baseball controls, but enough of a gameplay leap to warrant playing. [Sept 2008, p.70]

This baseball diamond loses some of its luster with occasionally confusing or clunky play (it's too easy to accidentally pitch or swing prematurely), but the game's simplified approach is great for sports-curious gamers looking to avoid the complexities of a real simulation. [Oct 2008, p.87]

Mario Super Sluggers is such a fun game. The challenge mode, while easy, is very fun, going around and unlocking the characters. The minigames are also very fun with over 10+ of them, which for a baseball game, is very solid. But, the exhibition mode is out of this world. Grab your wiimotes, grab a friend, and play a match. You will not regret it. Also, the character roster is very solid. It was actually the biggest Nintendo roster (42 Characters) at the time of launch in 2008. The batting mechanics are elite, the pitching mechanics are elite, the fielding is elite, you get the point. For a seemingly base-line baseball game, it brings so much fun and then more. 11/10 drop everything and play now.

The controls are really uncomfortable. If this would have been compatible as a Wii Classic Controller or Gamecube Controller only mode (I mean gameplay being way similar to GameCube prequel as SuperStar Baseball). I would be very happy. The rest as story mode and exhibition mode and characters as K. Rool and his kremlings is fine and fun. And I enjoyed it. But I'm not used to the motion controls style .

Nintendo loses the chance of releasing an "Excellent" game, as it only remains "Great" because of the repeated graphics engine and only being an upgrade to "Mario Superstar Baseball."

HOW IS THIS LEGIT BETTER THAN EVERY SINGLE MARIO SPORTS GAME ON THE SWITCH WHAT
74
We wouldn’t go as far as to say this is Nintendo-made shovelware, but there's very little that has changed in the three years between "Mario Superstar Baseball" on GCN, and Mario Super Sluggers on Wii.
70
You're not getting a sports sim here; this is about simple Wiimote-swinging fun. Those looking for a high level of challenge need to look elsewhere.
65
If you want to play baseball on the Wii, try The Bigs or MLB Power Pros. Even though Sluggers does have fast paced action, giant baseball super pitches and fireball star hits, as a baseball game, Mario Super Sluggers is too simplistic for the average game player.
58
As long as you remember that Super Mario Sluggers is more casual entertainment than an actual baseball simulation game, you should find it enjoyable, if a bit simple, playing with friends and family.
40
As a Mario game, Mario Super Sluggers feels kind of cheap; as a baseball game, it fails to capture the finer points that make the sport interesting in the first place. Its accessibility is probably Mario Super Sluggers' most well-realized characteristic, but what you're getting access to simply isn't much fun.

Goated everything. The music, the gameplay, and the characters. Such an awesome roster and creates for the most fun local pvp you can ever had. WE NEED A SEQUEL PLEASE.

Not as good as superstar baseball but this game is still good but can be flawed. Like the gameplay it can lack and the game gets repetitive so its good but flawed.

This game is really not very good. The single player mode took me 20 minutes to beat Bowser. I'm not lying. The characters all have certain ratings for speed, catching, batting and pitching. Which is fine. The problem is that these ratings are all false.

This game was never released in europe, Nintendo you better give us a Mario Baseball Game on the switch
SummaryIn the same spirit as other sports-themed Mario games on Wii, Mario Super Sluggers blends richly interactive baseball action with eccentric characters and elements from across the popular Mario universe. Players can swing the wireless Wii Remote just like a real bat or wave it toward the plate to deliver a masterful pitch, enjoying the s... Read More
