Players who’ve been around the free-to-play block will immediately recognise Kingshot as a reskin of Whiteout Survival, which itself is identical in gameplay terms to Top War: Survival, Age Of Empires, and a host of other games cynically designed to exploit unwary players financially. Do yourself a favour and give it a wide berth.

The game directly copies the modern 4X framework of Whiteout Survival. While its interaction design and visuals remain at a high mobile standard, the story, world-building, and core selling points feel half-baked—relying only on a startup mini-game blatantly mimicking Thronefall. In the end, it feels like a wasted showcase of the developer’s technical capabilities.

It lies to you with fake visuals in app stores and non-existent "tower defense" videos in ads. This game doesn't care about you, it cares about your pocket. It's not even 50/50. If you want to kneel down to those who pay or if you're a whale, you can play. I'm sad that I can't find a non-microtransaction version of this type of game. I've played a game called The Ants before, and it was much worse. I'd say stay away from these so-called "free to play" games. The knock-off Tetris games are much more enjoyable.
