Note: This is a pre-release review, as of August 2015. TL;DR: This game ****. It's still pre-release, but after 2 years of waiting for it to show any noteworthy signs of improvement, I'm skeptical that it's ever going to be truly playable. Don't spend more that $5 on it until after it's fully released and gets some good reviews (that aren't obvious plants by the developers). I bought this game in 2013--just after it was released--because the description, videos, and screenshots indicated that it was going to be a rewarding single-player and multi-player experience. I paid more for it than some FPS games that I've gotten over 200 hours of fun out of, because it looked like it would turn into a fun, peudo-realistic FPS, both online and offline. Sadly, 2 years later, the graphics still look shoddy, the multiplayer is still one-dimensional, and the single player campaign is basically unplayable. For example, you can't save during the single-player campaign, so if you die, you get booted back to the beginning of the mission, and missions can be quite long, since a lot of stealth is involved. Stealth doesn't work like it should, either. If you shoot a bad guy in the head with a silencer, and nobody is around to see/hear it, sometimes, the alarm goes off. When that happens, bad guys don't come through the gates, get airdropped, walk on from the edge of the map, or any other sensible thing; they just spawn in silently in random places and come after you. So, now that walkway you spent 5 minutes clearing so you'd be able to scout around has enemies on it, even though you had a clear view of all the ways they could have gotten onto it from. Linux support is one reason why I bought this game. However, 2 years later, it still doesn't work in a playable fashion. (The other paragraphs of this review pertains to the Windows version, which I've been playing on my other hard drive.) If you put the game fullscreen and start a mission (online or single-player), you can only look up, and when you move the mouse, it immediately reverts your view to a lovely panorama of a completely uninteresting sky or ceiling. This is a known bug having to do with the supposedly cross-platorm engine, **** has been for quite some time. You can edit an obscure config file by hand to make it work in windowed mode, but who wants to play an FPS in a window? Physics and movement are STILL screwed-up. I could sort-of understand jumping and crouching not being implemented for the first year of public play (****?), but even now, you can only sometimes jump over low railing, rocks, etc. that come up to your character's knees. Also, when you shoot a bad guy, sometimes he goes flying off into the sky, because, obviously, that's how people go down when shot. Sometimes, when you're crouching between two obstacles with ~3 feet of empty space in front of you, bullet holes will appear in the wall-that-doesn't-exist in front of you when you're shooting or being shot at. The one positive thing I have to say about this game, so far, is that your character's body exists and moves realistically. Shooting recoils realistically, and reloading looks like what you'd see in a YouTube video of a skilled weapons instructor--not too fast, and not too slow, with bumps and clicks in all the right places. There are still only three guns, none of which are actually FUN to shoot (they don't make a satisfying/realistic "bang", don't have realistic smoke, make electric "sizzles" instead of bullet holes, etc.), but they do have some nice options on them, such as attachable suppressors, toggles for fire speed, light, laser, and so on. I get that the devs are spending a LOT of time and energy trying to make it realistic (as much as an enjoyable video game can be), but I think that they're focusing on the details to the complete exclusion of the sorts of things that make a first-person shooter fun to play. It's obvious that the developers love the game they're making enough to be totally meticulous about the stuff they think is cool--and that's great--but in order for everyone else to have a "love of the game", they need to ignore some of those figurative trees and get around to planting the rest of the forest. I've used a LOT of beta software, and played a LOT of early pre-release games; and few, if any, have been this bad after two years of public release--and NONE have been this bad for so long after the point when they started to actually charge money for them. $5 for this level of quality I could understand, but $15? It's still not a lot, but that price point means they're competing with the likes of Killing Floor and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which are vastly better games than Interstellar Marines. Honestly, if it were free-to-play, it probably wouldn't be played, as it is, now. If this game starts to become worth playing before I entirely give up on it, I'll change this review, accordingly.

I simply cannot recommend this game at present. The concept is good, but it seems the developers take forever to release updates and the game is still missing some extremely important mechanics to make it worthwhile. While the graphics and sound are fairly good there is not really much else to say in favour of the game at present. - You cannot create your own servers. You are limited to a handful that the devs provide which are map/gametype locked. Their "reason" for not releasing the server-side files is that they are scared people are going to reverse engineer it. Utter **** - Only 2 weapons that are very similar. Infinite ammo, no pickups in the game world. - Enemy AI is sub-par at best and laughable at worst. - Some of the level design is wonderful, others may very well drive you to the brink of insanity due to poorly communicated objectives, a broken waypoint system and some truly atrocious level design. - The tutorial doesn't even work. You get stuck at a door and cannot continue. All-in-all, it's very lackluster. The sad thing is, they have the foundations for a great game here, but with devs that are taking forever and ignoring some massive features, I say pass on this one for now. Jimbo Rating: 4/1

Devs doesn't lie with promotion - it is indeed System Shock + Rainbow Six. But with some fresh unique gameplay elements which makes game even more better, such as dynamic changes of weather, level geometry and lighting. Gunplay is very realistic which urges to use teamwork, stealth approach, and pondering on your personal and team tactics. At the moment (end of April 2015) it contains several hardcore singleplayer/co-op missions (including 2 pretty long missions with some narrative elements) and 4 multiplayer mods (DM, TDM and two turf-based regimes). Many hours of fun even at that alpha-state are guaranteed.

No way is this a 7.2 .. all the 10's and 9's is false PR. graphics is subpar -on ultra-, shadows glitchy(screen will go completely dark sometimes), you will fall through floors and and.. I needed three tries to pass the intro 'IM' mission due to bugs that left me stranded. What really puts me off though is the positive reviews on here .. cause it stinks so HARD of manipulation and false PR, basicly I suspect the devs have made 5 accounts each and just spammed 9 and 10-reviews away. Disgusting.

Even though they've been using some time on their programming, there is still no doubt, that they've focused on what other companies haven't! A good example could be the HUD system they have been working on. Anyway the game seems awesome, and i can't wait till the release! -Fr3ddY

I purchased this game via Steam over a year ago, and at that time, I was extremely disappointed with the product, even given the fact it was in very early stages. I randomly opened up the game today, and to my surprise, a campaign mission was available! The polish and immersion of this level was incredible, and I could not believe how into it I got. The servers are still woefully underpopulated making multiplier untestable, but at least they gave me a taste of what I wanted: an incredible setting populated with equal parts terrifying solitude and unnerving company, with surprising polish and rewarding gun-fighting. A little thing, but I feel they nailed the sound for a wide and reverberating space station interior. I cannot wait for the finished product, and am not only relieved at my purchase, but excited.

Amazingly immersing game that has stuck to the developer's dream for the entire project. You are given a completely explanatory environment that has nothing that would not be realistic (HUD on the screen are not hovering on your screen as a player, they are apart of your helmet). For the power of this game it's amazing the developers have managed to publish a fully working DEMO that looks as fantastic as this. Think about that - this is an Early Access of a DEMO of the game. What we have is a tiny portion of the finished title.

I supported this game from the beginning, but the developers lack of any work has just pushed me away. With absolutely no game progression at all, I consider this company a black hole for your money. No matter what words may be used, actions tell the truth, and with zero development in the last 6 months from a company that has gone bankrupt 3 times in the last 8 years, stay as far away as you can get. Only one gun, not even a pistol to switch to, no crouch, no prone, no run (just walk and fast walk), no cover system etc. It's been 6 months of "patches" and the only thing they have released for updates have been lighting changes and a spectator mode, then had a "tournament" so they could try and get some good footage of the game for advertising They have an "Internet Smoothing" feature that if you activate, makes you lag so bad you can't hit anything. When asked, developers will say to "Make sure it's set to zero" so why in the world did they spend the money we invested to include something that makes the game worse? Then leave it as is and not fix it? It's been months but they spend their time on spectator modes and tournaments rather than adding content and improving playability. This should be a red flag that they are working hard to try and get more people to give them money rather than working hard to deliver any type of content.

The biggest rip off on Steam. A game from daydreaming devs that will never finish what they've thought up. Been in development since 2005 and all they have is a multiplayer tech demo.

Even in it's very early stages, the developers stick to their awesome concept and they've built a close relation to the community. The gameplay is fun, the graphics are good and new features are being implemented as fast - AND as good as possible. They rather take the time to implement essential key features the right way, than to just rush things blindly. One of the best examples **** relationship between a dev and a community. Other companies can learn from that.

IM is a tight feeling FPS. It currently lacks content, but is still very good. With more content on the way, I have high hopes for this game. The devs are great, and are working to make a high quality product.

The game has some potential, but right now, it's in alpha with a lot of content missing but will come with later updates. I can't wait to see how it will present itself in the future.
