Dreamkiller is, through and through, a budget game. The visuals are colorful but look decidedly old, the action is as shallow as it gets in a modern shooter, and the sound effects lack oomph. The premise is neat, and some of the enemy designs are legitimately awesome. But if you've been dreaming of some old-fashioned twitch shooting, you should return to the old standbys and let this sleeping dog lie.
It's fun, but the fun is short lived. Dreamkiller is a copy-cat game that tries to emulate Serious Sam but places Sam in a cube.

The game's spectacular premise is ultimately unfulfilled. What might have been a truly eye-opening, perspective-shattering trip through the battlefields of a tortured psyche is merely a rehash of everything we've been through in the Painkiller series.

I am a long time fan of Duke Nukem and Doom as well as other classic games and while this is no Doom i will say it is a classic in my book. Any game that is fun to play and has a semi interesting story is awesome in my opinion. Dreamkillers' story if fun and imaginative with an immersive atmosphere and ever changing surroundings. I feel i can't go without mentioning Painkiller and if your ever in the mood for a lighter version then Dreamkiller is for you. I don't understand the amount of negative reviews on this one, but i guess if i only limited myself to ten minutes of playtime i might have misjudged a whole crap load of games. Wow talk about missing out.. Power to the Player people!

Despite its awesome premise ( Psychonauts combined with Painkiller) Dreamkiller is nothing more than a standard old school corridor shooter. Which makes it totally unforgivable that the fights are quite unsatisfying. The guns feels unresponsive and unsatisfying to use and neither sound, visuals or physics manages to brings the fights to life. And since most fights play out the same because of the dumb AI the game also gets quite repetitive. The interesting premise could have saved the game but neither the environments, enemies or story are particularly intriguing . The game do have some kind of interesting environments here and there but it never manages to escape from the fact the the general gameplay feels quite sub-par.

Dreamkiller amuses for the time that lasts, about 8 hours. It is sold at budget price.

I'd give this a 7 or 8 out of ten, but I voted 10 to boost the overall score. The reason I would give it a 7 or 8 is because while the game basically lacks a story, the idea of it is pretty cool and gameplay mechanics are great. My only complaint, other than the story thing, is that sometimes the levels can become boring and repetitive.

This is a fun game. If you just want to shoot things, and not have to read a 100+ page manual then this is a game for you. If you don't want to spend 30 minutes going through story, and figuring out controls, then this is a good game. It has good actin, it's fun, it won't demand 100 hours of game play. I don't think the negative review are fair, it's more about this not being what people want. If you want a stealth game and open environments and all that, then this isn't your game. But if you don't have (or want to put in) countless hours map exploring, and just want more "old school" action, then is a great game. It's really that simple.

Psychonauts did brain-delving better. Serious Sam did campy horde-killing better. For this price, you could buy both. Twice. [Christmas 2009, p.111]

Try as they might, none can’t clear the bar that was set by Painkiller. Left to its own devices, without People Can Fly’s support, Mindware Studios created but a pale imitation. Some people can’t fly, indeed.

If the creation of a boring and ugly looking corridor shooter was intended, we can just applause this to be a plan the is 120% achieved. [Dec 2009]

This game got some pretty bad reviews, but personally I enjoyed it all the way though. Every weapon in this game is awesome and fun to shoot (exactly what an FPS should be like (My personal favorite is the Sunbeam which shoots sunshine and happiness.)) Some of the levels are fun and quite imaginative. The game has a brilliant premise too, but doesn't always take advantage of this, there are moments where you're bored of killing all the monsters and just want to move on with the story. I enjoyed the game, but looking back, near unlimited potential is wasted on repetitive gameplay.

This game was a unique experience into the simple fps genre. Rather then the classic Judeo/Christian heaven hell story, or aliens, we are give a glimse into the world of dreams. It could have been better. But if you just want to kill time, this is a great time waster. I should have delved deeper into the whole nightmare part of the game and turned this into a well written and portrayed horror game. As it sits however I had more fun with Serious Sam.
