Death Stranding9
Nov 10, 2019
I'm really shocked by all the negative reviews. I read some before playing, and figured the game would be boring and repetitive as some of them say. So I braced for the worst and... 10 hours later I'm still enthralled. This type of gameplay isn't for everyone- if you're looking for a mindless shooter or hack-n-slasher, you probably won't like it, as it requires a bit of thinking and planning. But in objective terms, Death Stranding is in a class of its own. First I'll list the bad: some parts can feel like a slog. There is some repetition between missions, as they all involve going somewhere, picking something up, and bringing it somewhere else. But that's the basic archetype of almost every video game. Besides that, there are times when it feels too easy or too hard, or a lot of info is dumped on you at once. The story is confusing, especially at the beginning, but all is revealed sooner or later. More impulsive players won't have the patience to sit through the cutscenes and dialogue, of which there is a lot. There's much more good than bad. The world feels massive and realistic, the original score suits each scene or level incredibly well, and the controls are impeccably ergonomic. The graphics are nothing revolutionary, but are still very good, and caused no lag on my standard PS4. The story is creative to say the least, as are the gameplay mechanics, some of which don't exist outside of this game. Overall, I think Death Stranding deserves an 85-90% score. Very few titles display this level of passion, creativity, and a mastery over UI.

The feel of RE4 with the graphics of RE7. This was such an incredible experience I played for 8 hours and beat the game in one day. This is the most scared I’ve been from a video game in a long time.

This game fantastically blends together the retro style and modern character development that so many others try to emulate. Rarely do I have a game that constantly has me smiling, actually laughing out loud, and replaying the entire campaign. Certainly worth the amount I paid and more!

Left 4 Dead 29
Apr 22, 2014
Left 4 Dead 2 has gotten a lot of flak for its similarity to the first game, but I think Valve made the right move in making it just how they did. Here's why: REPLAY VALUE: - The first game was not very long, but it had replay value, the second game is essentially the first game with more levels, new levels, new characters, new dialogue, new weapons and enemies and mechanics, etc. The first game was a smashing success, so if the second was why would they change that much in the sequel? NEW MECHANICS: - The guns, special devices, and melee weapons all have a very nice, "clean," feel to them. There's almost no "wind-up," so every swing, shot, and throw feels responsive. This is something many developers overlook when making games, and it's incredibly important to have the feel right. NEW WEAPONS: - The arsenal from L4D was one of the more boring parts of the game. L4D2 has more than doubled the amount of weapons, whilst keeping the originals for old fans. STEAM WORKSHOP: - Don't like the level selection? The skins are boring you? Then modify them with minimal effort by utilizing Steam Workshop, which is home to thousands of custom, user-made skins. There really isn't much to complain about.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag0
Dec 27, 2013
I bought this game because it was rated highly and I liked the premises of the other Assassin Creed games. This was a mistake. As soon as I started the game, I noticed the graphics were not really that great, although the framerate was also not spectacular. The voice acting was okay, but the talking animations were lacking. When I try to run, the sticky auto-climbing mode makes it nearly impossible to stay on the ground. The fighting mechanics also feel slow, virtual, and only require one button pressed rapidly for the most part. It's like if Mirror's Edge's manual freerunning was replaced by a system that does the acrobatics for you; there's no skill involved, and I don't feel like I've done anything significant.

I have played both League of Legends, and Dota 2. They have similar "plots," and the gameplay is very similar, but I believe Dota 2 to be superior in nearly every way; the graphics, soounds, character diversity, etc. There too much going on at any time in LoL for me to really like how it looks.

Persona 4 Golden10

Never have I experienced such a fulfilling game in all my 14 years of gaming. With an 80+ hour completion time, several types of gameplay, and impeccable storytelling & characters, I'm genuinely shocked this colossal game is a mere 3.1 GB. It's an RPG, but the choices you make have a much larger outcome in the end than what is conventional. You can choose from multiple jobs, hobbies, girlfriends (or boyfriend, I think), friends, extracurricular activities, sports, books, weapons... the list goes on and on. Cinematics make me feel happy at times and sad at others, I'm sincerely worried about the characters (this may have to do with how much time is spent with them), and it almost feels like I have a complete other life. I was weary of buying this t first, because it honestly looked kind of stupid (a Japanese RPG where you go to school? Really?), but Christ almighty was I ever wrong about that. This is by far the best PSV exclusive I've ever played, and the best PSV title period behind Snake Eater. And at the lower-than-regular price of $29.99, you're really getting your full money's worth.

Fez2
Jan 4, 2013
Easily one of the best games I've played on the XBOX 360, let alone the Arcade. Fez is an intuitive puzzle platformer that challenges players to think, which is also why you'll see so many bad ratings for it. Because people that gave this game a bad review are stupid.

Other than being a tad to the short side, Metro 2033 is a very fun game. It's a lot like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, but has a better feel to the controls, and gameplay is a lot more solid. The graphics (depending on your configuration) can range from average current graphics to beautiful Crysis-like graphics. I got this on sale from Steam for $5, but it's easily worth $20.

Anomaly: Warzone Earth1

I did not enjoy this game. I love tower defenses, and this is essentially the reversal of that (IE you play as the people trying to get past the towers). The game starts out very slow, and the tutorial is very tiresome. After the first half of the levels, the game is at a nearly unbeatable level. After a while it gets dull, and it's a relatively short game. The graphics are okay.

Prey (2006)10
Jan 24, 2012
There's absolutely nothing to complain about in this game. The graphics are stunning (at least they were when the game was released), the story is mind-blowing, the gameplay mechanics are incredibly ergonomic and intuitive, and more. This is, in my humble opinion, one of the most underrated games in the history of the PC. Get it, get it now. Prey 2 doesn't look quite as good.

Dreamkiller10

I'd give this a 7 or 8 out of ten, but I voted 10 to boost the overall score. The reason I would give it a 7 or 8 is because while the game basically lacks a story, the idea of it is pretty cool and gameplay mechanics are great. My only complaint, other than the story thing, is that sometimes the levels can become boring and repetitive.

Crysis10

I'm tired of this game getting a bad rap. Despite what some say, this was not just made to be a tech demo. When it was released, it had maybe the best graphics of it's time, but that doesn't take away from the story line, which is also fantastic. I would recommend, if your computer can handle it, to get the photo-realism mod. It looks spectacular.

Grand Theft Auto IV10

I would say that this game is much better on a 360 or PS3 than it is on PC. The reason for this is short and simple: Games for Windows. I respect Windows, and I'm running it on my computer as I type this, but one thing is clear: they need to back the hell off of the gaming market, because they're ruining a lot of nice games. Some good examples: Bioshock 2, GTA IV, The Witcher, Alone in the Dark, and many more. The Games for Windows seal is more of a curse than anything else. Luckily, I bought this on Steam for $4.99, so I didn't waste too much. The game itself is great, so I've given it a 9/10, but Games for Windows has nearly rendered it unplayable. God dammit, Windows.

I can see why many people like this game, but for once I'm actually going to have to agree with the critics on this one. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is okay, and the cinematics are mind-blowing. However, it's far from perfect. The mechanics are sort of "clicky" (your character Aya takes a weird step backward before running, and looks kind of awkward while moving in any direction), and the story line is a bit confusing if you haven't played the other Parasite Eve games (like me). As a side note, I played the game for about four hours total before coming to this conclusion, and I'm still not sure why it's rated M...

Just like the originals, but better. Better graphics, audio, effects, everything. It's also much more comfortable to play Peace Walker with a controller than it is on the PSP. Not as good as MGS4, but still amazing, just like all of the other Konami games. If you're new to the genre or setting, fear not. The controls are extremely ergonomic, and the stories are wonderful. Very artistic, especially Peace Walker.

This is one of my favorite childhood games. A bit morbid, but that isn't always a bad thing. There literally are no other games like this one, and what I mean by that is the original content is unforgettable. Definitely one of the better games of the decade, and I wish more developers were this creative and talented.
