One of those games that make you wonder what could've been if it had a higher budget and more polish, as the game has the ingredients to make it a gem, but it's held back by the jank and low budget production values. The graphics arent all that bad for a smaller budget UE3 game from 2013, it can look somewhat impressive at times even. The FPS combat is shockingly competent, whoever was responsbile for designing the gunplay and weapon SFX did a solid job because they felt almost as good as in AAA UE3 first person shooter games of the time. Though the enemy and companion AI arent all that bright. The puzzles, while not mind benders, were still fairly alright. Though they're somewhat marred by how hand holdy the game is, with the notebook having pretty much everything spelled out for you for their solution. I'm not that familiar with Alan Quartermaine stories, but the game did feel very much in line with Indiana Jones or The Mummy sort of adventures which i'm more accustomed to. Story does a serviceable job with incorporating a globe trotting campaign. The acient civilization parts of the game were probably the main highlights of Deadfall, with suprising amount of detail put into their levels. Sadly the narrative itself is unimpressive to say the least, full of cliches and twists that can be seen from a mile away. It's not helped by the sub-par voice acting and badly animated cutscenes. Final boss fight is pretty underwhelming too, so is the main villain you're facing. Since Jen accompanies you almost for the entire game, you'll notice that she never blinks, her idle animation being very basic and that her character model is weirdly rigged, making one of her legs look like it's snapped or something. But other than technical shortcomings she was a suprisingly solid companion due to her holding her own, having cool Britishness and cute looks. James himself is not that impressive as a protagonist, though he can sometimes do the odd one-liner that'll make you chuckle.

Juego de los que pasan por debajo del radar ha sido este Deadfall Adventures. Estamos en 2023 y tiene ya 10 años, pero pese a que se le ven las costuras, es un juego muy disfrutable y que desde luego no se merece las malas críticas que tuvo en su día. He llegado a leer que este juego es pura basura. Sin duda, se trata de una opinión que no se ajusta, en modo alguno, a la realidad. Deadfall Adventures nos cuenta la aventura de James Quatermain, nieto del famoso explorador y aventurero Allan Quatermain, al aceptar, un poco a regañadientes y por que sus circunstancias le obligan, la oferta del gobierno de los ****, para ayudar a una arqueóloga a encontrar el poderoso objeto llamado el corazón de Atlantis. El problema, ya no es únicamente donde está, sino que hay más gente interesada en encontrarlo, por ejemplo los **** y tambien el ejército rojo, por lo que el asunto va a ser de todo menos fácil. En cuanto a mecánicas nos encontramos ante un FPS puro, resolución de puzzles más o menos fáciles (los hay que se las traen) y exploración. Este último rasgo muy importante, puesto que el desarrollo de nuestras habilidades depende de los tesoros que encontremos, Tenemos una cantidad de armas de la época en la que está ambientado el juego, interesante. Herramientas como la linerna, importante tanto en la exploración como en el combate y la brújula que nos ayudará a encontrar los tesoros. El juego tiene fallos, no es perfecto, eso es indiscutible, tiene poca variedad de enemigos, algunos glitches gráficos sin importancia pero que afean el resultado final y a veces puede sentirse un poco impreciso, pero nada de esto es tan grave como otros tantos errores que traen de serie algunos triple A y no se les castiga de forma tan severa por ello. Deadfall Adventures es un juego que a día de hoy, pese a que se le ven las costuras del ya viejo Unreal Engine 3, se disfruta enormemente en pc si te molan este tipo de FPS
