At its best, BirdGut is a fascinating blend of simple controls and very strange situations.

Birdgutis a silly little flash-ish game about some deformed wasp who turned out like a little bean fella with wings, so derpy so silly. He's an outcast and is shunned by passers by and kicked out of his hive immediately before anyone finds him.
You end up being eaten by a big birdy (bird gut), inside is not what you'd expect, a whole contraption factory, society / digestive system hybrid. looks like a very cartoonish hollow knight. the machine upon entering the bird brainwashes every bug it eats to serve the society inisde, the little fella (you) is not affected and you do **** and escape yadda yadda.
The platforming in this game is one of the best parts (other than the silly little art direction), it has a lot of gimmicks and platforming mechanics that work really well, most feel lbp inspired ish? there's a lot of similar conventions and puzzles that feel similar to the game's story modes. either way, they nailed the platforming. The final fight is quite **** but doable, ended up retrying for a good while, the little bean bug is NOT great at dodging projectiles going 80mph through the air whilst you are the skiddiest **** ever-.
There's also a railway section that goes on for a good while without any **** checkpoints, honestly started to get annoying doing the same section over and over again whilst the section piles more on top of itself. I adore the platforming in this game but these specific sections are a pain, could've been reworked in **** in all a silly little puzzle platformer. It's not surreal but it is silly to an extent. 6.8/10

Fun but boring, it’s one of those games where you will either spend 40 minutes walking around in a maze or looking up a yt video and still getting lost.

Hope the developer gets another chance to make a higher budget game. Fun, short, simple, free, not much too ask, but actually delivers

SummaryBirdGut is a hand-drawn 2d puzzle-platformer from the perspective of an outcast bee who gets eaten by a bird, and discovers that the bird's internal organs are not organs at all, but facilities in which the consumed insects are brainwashed and enslaved. Experience this bizarre one-man project for yourself.
