It is an intense study of the human condition, and man's relationship with God, aka the Big Kahuna.

(Katja von Garnier's) talent makes this original film exciting and moving, a raucous ride.

Despite its bizarre intellectual project, Le Pecheur's film is seductive and shockingly sexy.

The end is predictable after the first five minutes (two, if you're smart), but the film sucks you in all the same.

The script is an odd take on the Cinderella formula, but Barrymore makes it shine with her relentless charm.

Spacek is brilliantly funny, slowly transforming Helen from a nervous 60s housewife into a liquored-up one. I could have watched her in the vibrating fat-burner, eyes closed, lazily gripping a martini glass, for hours.

Gorgeous, mesmerizing, and stunningly well acted.

Jones even manages to save this somewhat tiring film.

A fine film; as an Ed Norton picture, it's a disappointment.

Enough already with the faux documentary!
