A disappointingly ordinary police procedural, flirting with big ideas around post-apartheid identity before reverting to type – as if two jealous writers were wrestling over the script between takes. [Reyka was released as The Cane Field Killings in the UK]

The show is hardly universally relatable. These are urban rich kids convinced of their own glamour and importance. They would be more likeable if the dialogue weren’t so stilted and all their jokes didn’t seem to end with the word “patriarchy”.
