Didnt play CS1 so as a new PC gamer i really love and appreciate this games take on the genre of competetive FPSs. The small details in gunplay like not being able to be accurate without standing still offer a more realistic and refined take on gunplay that is difficult to master and you'll be determined to get better. The graphics and art style are excellent and optimized well. I have a new pc with a solid GPU in a nvidia 3060, but it's far from a top tier card like a 4090 and with the graphics on max settings its maxing my display out with the FPS in the 200 range which I haven't experienced before. The physics engine is good with blood splattering out realistically and staining the walls and floor and staying there, seeing moss in water reform after walking through it, and a very nice lighting/shadow all impress the eyes. The menu is confusing, as im still confused how to edit my loadout, and there could be more game modes ( which surely will be added since the game is very new) Im also not sure if the matchmaking is balanced bc it feels like you are outmatched at times and could be very challenging for newcomers like myself. If they improve these small things id give the game a 9, but probably sitting at an 8.5 at its current state. Its looking obvious that COD players are bombing this game and it's likley bc theyre not used to a more realistic sim. In COD when you aim down your sight in a gun, the game zooms in on your field of view giving you better vision so it's easier to be accurate, but this isn't realistic. Pick up a gun and aim down its sights, is your vision suddenly zooming in on your target? No ( unless you have a scope) You have to use the curser to aim which is much more challenging to be accurate combined with only being accurate if you're at a standstill. Its changeling and takes time to get good at, and when you do its more satisfying. COD is a fun take on an arcade style shooter with regenerating health and being able to come back to the match after you die. If you want a more realistic sim with tactical and refined gameplay then CS2 is the one, if you want an arcade style shooter then COD is better suited for you. So don't listen to the trolls, because the game is better then COD in many ways and it's more challenging.
What a beautifully crafted game. Its easy to see right away that a lot of heart and care has gone into this game, something sorely lacking in most games today.
After 6 games I can confidently say that the core on field gameplay is better than the past 5 entries or so. It feels harder to cheese like previous years with one play TDs or scrambling with athletic QBs every play. The DBs seem to play a lot better man coverage when in years past any time I noticed I was being pressed, i could throw a deep pass for a TD almost every time. I had a few games online that felt like real games with real final scores like 17-13 instead of 43-40 every game. The game still feels mostly like a copy and paste from the past 5 years, and it still needs to be completley rebuilt, but the core field play does feel like a good step forward. I would give it a 7 but these 0s are asinine. Trust me, I want nothing more than the NFL to relinquish EAs rights so 2K can come back too.
Unbelievably detailed world with surprisingly smart NPCs that bring the world to life. A slow burn **** but once you get immersed in the world its quite captivating. The only other games i put in its class the past decade are BOTW and Witcher 3.
God people are such toxic idiots. The same idiots crying that the game was getting delayed are now crying that its buggy. **** that its buggy on last gen hardware but on a PS5 its running great. Dont Browne these stupid scores, the game will be patched up and underneath this is an excellent game that is easily GOTY quality.
This game being less acclaimed than FF9 is just plain wrong. This is an absolute RPG classic that any fan of the genre must play. The dialogue is sometimes a bit confusing due to a sub par translation job from the original japenese, and yes the characters blocky polygon build is a bit funky, but other than those two minor complaints the game is great in every aspect. The story is very good and you will have an attachment to some of the characters, the materia battle system is fantastic, allowing you to explore the entire world for hidden multi colored crystals that each have different magic abilities you can equip to any character and learn through experience points. Even more awesome you can link different materias together to give yourself a unique battle edge from character to character. There is tons of side quests to do that are very fun raising your own chocobos and breeding them to make better and faster ones to compete with and win prizes like weapons and rare materia) the search for the 3 ultimate weapon bosses that are very difficult and reward you with the most rare and best materia in the game, the flying saucers fun filled mini games, and more. The soundtrack is one of the best in a video game you will ever hear. Its arguable to put this as the best RPG game of all time, if not the best.
