5-6 years later and this game is still worth playing. It will offer any gamer seeking a rewarding challenge exactly what they seek. It's not so difficult as to completely frustrate you and chase you away, and offers a good deal of exploration. The only reason it gets a 9 is while there is replay value, it can feel a bit repetitive since you are basically forced to play through the same game more than once at a higher difficulty if you are a trophy hunter, rather than simply offering a better level/difficulty scaling system that only requires a single play through of the game. Also, the graphics feel a bit dated even for a game from 2009, and at times the performance bogs down to a stuttering frame rate in certain areas where draw distance is further out with a lot of visuals being rendered on screen. Anyone seeking a rewarding yet challenging game, especially in the action RPG genre, this should be on your must-play list, even 5-6 years after release.

There are a lot of overly critical reviews out there for this game that review it based on what they wanted out of the game rather than reviewing the game based on it's own merits and what it was intended to be. It was never intended to be the next great shooter, nor was it ever intended to be a multi-player game. That said, it makes no sense whatsoever to critique it for not being either of these. On it's own merits, this game offers some of the best production quality you'll ever find in a game. It plays very well and performs very well. Unlike most games these days, there is no need for a huge day one patch to fix a conundrum of game breaking or new game breaking issues or performance bottlenecks. The voice acting is very well done, and the story is very good and will draw most players in easily. The main reason this game gets an 8 instead of a 9 or a 10, is the lack of content. It is a shorter game than you'd want to have out of a full price retail title. That said, what you get for the full price is some of the highest quality you'll get these days, and this game easily has the best visuals, music, and sound, if not voice acting as well, that you'll get in a next gen console game, by far. It's definitely worth a play through, and once you're done, just resell the game used, or trade it in for a credit. You can easily do that and save a good bit of money within a week or less, even if you sparingly play games.

This game is a mixed bag both for newcomers to Dragon Age and to players of Origins. On the one hand, the conversation and elements of combat are improved. On the other hand, there's lots to be disappointed in. This is the best game I've played that I'd rate a 7 out of 10. While disappointing in some aspects, it is still fun to play. Unfortunately, the overall story does not feel as epic as Origins, but the characters are good. There's a little too much sexual innuendo from just about every companion in the game, instead of one or two where appropriate. Probably the worst part of the game is the reuse of the same city, and the same 10 or less "zones" in 3 different Acts. Also, the maps are reused without updating inaccessible areas of the maps. Is the game fun? Yes, I think so, but be forewarned, it is not the game we all hoped for.

Very fun game and worth the small price. The music is good - really enjoyed playing the game with 2 or 3 of the 5 songs. The others are not as good but ok. Some players may not be as much a fan of the music however, and if like many other players, you play the game for extended periods of time, the repetition of the music may get annoying. It is very easy to play this game for hours on end thinking you've only played an hour or two, when actually it's been 4-5 hours.
