A Plague Tale: Innocence has the best story I have ever experienced in a video game. Its gameplay may be 'too long', but it develops its characters beautifully in its runtime. Each character has an objective they desire to complete, and as the story progresses they meet new characters and gradually discover their flaws and fortes. This game delivers an amazing story with graphics that could rival the current triple A games.
This game is definitely one of the gems of 2018. The writing is good, the riding is good, the combat feels natural and the game itself is pretty challenging if playing on hardcore or even in some missions when playing on normal. The graphics almost feel like real life, but Kingdom Come Deliverance: 2 will improve further upon this matter. Overall on the span of 21 hours I have really enjoyed this game and I would even go as far as to say that it is worth my money. I would recommend this game to hardcore fans but I would not advice to buy this game on its full price, I bought it on a -80% discount and for that you are basically stealing the game from WarHorse studios.
Enjoyed it for the most part. 9/10
I have no need in describing this particular game, even if I do, some may heed this advice and the others may choose to ignore or otherwise avoid reading it. This game has the audacity of only being 143 megabytes and delivering a portion of fun that even AAA games do not deliver. This game is satisfying in every way imaginable and scratches the itch that most games do not. I would advise you to no underestimate the replay value this game has to offer because of its pixelated graphics; and even though it has a paid DLC, it is free and very underrated. If I were to choose 2 games to play in my lifetime - it would be Animal Well and Impact Point. Although this game is less fun alone, playing it in company quadruples the fun of this game and generally makes it better in every aspect.
A banger with friends, but not alone. 9/10
While I was intrigued when I saw Bleak Sword DX's reviews on Steam and Metacritic, it is no more than an action rogue-lite dungeon crawler with uninteresting upgrades and simple items to obtain. Many of the positive comments addressed the game's graphics; and while the art-style is simplistic, it becomes repetitive shortly after running the game for the first time. Listening to it's music and sound effects is like listening to iron being **** by a knife: its music is just a few notes in a loop, it becomes annoying after some time. While it may be interesting to other players, but for me the game-play loop is not fun. It has no potential and even if it will be developed further, they will not be able to fix this ****; the core system of fighting baddies is not innovative in any way, this concept is repeated over and over again in this game. This game will be a mesmerizing experience if you like bad controls and over-simplistic game design. My verdict is that this game is a 6/10 slop game.
Salt and Sanctuary is a weird experience, and it's the best I can describe it. It is all a metroadvania game should not be. It has an interesting gameplay, a bit sloppy controls, OK sound design and overall has tough as nails boss fights and a over-simplistic story. Its souls-like elements feel unfinished. All of the classes - even the Rogue - feel slow to control, this feels like a huge step-down from its competitors such as Hollow Knight. This game has too much gore, it remains a mystery as to what the developer was smoking. The game's sinister atmosphere creates unease.
My verdict is 7/10: it has good character customization and an OK gameplay.
