The story and atmosphere are interesting, the gameplay is just barely fine, the procedurally generated world is catastrophic and makes it so the world outside of a few handcrafted mission areas is extremely boring and annoying.
On my first playthrough I thought this game was a masterpiece, the story, the atmosphere, the side quests.., but its very clear that this is one of those games where while the gameplay is fun, it doesn't justify a second playthrough because of it redundancy, as the story can only surprise you once, even with all the dlcs released, its still not worth replaying, but for first time players, I'd definitely recommend at least giving it a try, it also runs very well by modern standards
somehow even worse on pc than on ps4,even worse input delay ,its like if the first one was made by corporate suits who tried to mimic Ubisoft style bloated games.
Overall fun and fast experience, I'd sum it up in that if you like a quick fast paced game, this game is for you, the worst thing about this game is the story, which starts exciting and quickly disintegrates into an average uninteresting one.
Pacific drive is definitely a hugely underrated and even overhated game, its got an amazing gameplay loop, and an intriguing story albeit with bland and uninteresting characters, which can be overlooked considering the nature of the game, it gives a feeling which I've only ever experienced as a part of another game and not as a game in of itself, which is: feeling like you're on a road trip. A lot of the hate directed towards this game is either directed towards the developers and their political views or towards the performance of the game, the first of which is a stupid thing to even attempt to discuss ,and the latter being true, one last thing id like to mention is that the game has little playtime before it gets boring and repetitive, you can unlock all the car upgrades in around 7 hours, which renders the side quests they put useless, as you'll be bored before you even finish the game if you finish them, overall the game is very enjoyable, the radio songs suit the atmosphere very well, it's exactly what you'd expect, a survival driving game which doesn't do anything crazy, it does just enough for it to be good.
This is one of those games that your opinion on is entirely dictated by whether or not you like being told where to go, or would rather be thrown into a world where you have to find clues to progress, for me, it was simply frustrating not being to progress after a certain point, I had to pull up a guide to get through certain puzzles, at that point, I realized the game is simply not made for me, or for anyone who doesn't like spending a long time on a single puzzle rereading clues like a detective out of an 80s show trying to have a eureka moment, however, one thing which I know no one in their right mind would enjoy is the annoyingly short loop time, which contradicts the point of the game, which is slow exploration, overall, the game is simply not for everyone. One other thing id like to add is that most of the game problems could be fixed with something as simple as changing the time loop to around 40 minutes and rearranging the ship log information, or at least an option to do so.
