The moment you step foot into Arkham city you know the scale is incredible. The entire city just embodies the spirit of Batman. Exploring all the nooks and crannies can result in countless lost hours that you'll enjoy ! Character models are diverse and the story picks up right where Arkham asylum left off. Controls are tight and the skill tree can help you shape Batman's move and gadget set the way you see fit. I couldn't give the game a 9.5 like I wanted so I rounded up, and the only reason I can't regard this as a 10 of 10 is because the character cramming. To me it seemed to me like they wanted to put every face possible regardless if they had anything to do with the story. But a minor complaint I suppose, also the combat system to me is hard to perfect. It seemed like sometimes I kept combos going easily, and other times for no explainable reason my combos were debunked. All in all this is a must own game for any system you have, If you haven't played Arkham asylum you should. If you haven't played a good Batman game than you've never played this series. This is hands down the most incredible Batman game series ever made!
A very unique action RPG, great for kids and adults alike. When I first downloaded this game and started out, I was none too impressed. I have to admit I ended up becoming addicted and didn't stop playing until I was almost finished. Early slow pacing may detour some people, but if you stick with it you'll be rewarded with new abilities and costumes which change the dynamics and will keep you interested. The controls are easy to pick up and figure out, and the movements you'll need to pull off some of the attacks will come with ease. Combat comes pretty easy too, considering you're limited in attacks based on the costume you're wearing. The graphics are passable, but I do feel like character voices would've helped this game quite a bit. I grew up in the golden age of RPG / JRPG games so text comes natural, but with this game it just seems like voices could have added to the personality this game has. Exploring can net you new costumes and abilities and the stages aren't so huge that you'll get lost, but the costumes you'll find never really live up to the effort. I got this game for free by being a PS+ member, but I think a $10 price tag for this cute little adventure is totally worth the money. It's not a long game by any means and you won't find super diverse combat structure, But what it lacks in length and depth it makes up for in personality and fun factor!
This game is what every Mortal Kombat fan has been waiting for ! It answers the question of, Did they lose it after all these years? With a resounding NO! This game not only proves that MK vs DC was a fluke, but it will win back all the doubters and lost fans with a total throw back to the days of old school MK. The controls are very tight and responsive, and you'll have no problem jumping right into the heat of battle. There are a few modes to select from, all of which will help build your skills to be a competitor. The story mode puts you in most characters shoes to follow a fairly watered down story and pretty much teach you the ropes. It also tells alot of the back story of the whole MK universe. The challenge tower is a new spin on training if you ask me, it puts you in random situations you need to overcome. You'll have to fight with no arms, or no special moves, or throws only, etc. This mode becomes close to impossible by the end, but if you made it that far, you'll be well prepared. Graphically this is the best looking MK to date, and you'll be chilled to see some of the devastating slow mo attacks. Even clothes become warn throughout the battles, and bruises and cuts become visible the longer fights draw out. The Fatalities are back in all their gory glory too! They seem to have doubled down since the weak MK vs DC showing. And the blood and gore has been amped up to 11, which as a long time fan I can say they have come back into their own. This game is what a fighting game should be, fun, heart pounding, and intense. If you're a long time fan or a newcomer you'll love this game. With a large roster of characters, plus DLC and online matchmaking, you can't go wrong picking this title up.
I can honestly say there has never truly been a great Batman game until this arrived. I've played most iterations of the dark knights games, stretching all the way back to the days of the original Nintendo! The visuals in this game are downright stunning, and the atmosphere is plucked right out of a movie set. The characters all look great, and the levels themselves will give you a real sense of dread when you enter areas like the sewers Killer Croc roams, or the morgue. The controls are very intuitive, but the combo system can take some serious getting used to. There were some trophies for doing giant combos that I feel are nearly impossible. None of this will detract from the game too much though, because the combat is tight and the gadgets all work great! Lots of side quests will keep you going for hours, like solving Riddles. Locating hidden items, and separate game modes like challenge modes really keep the replay value high. If ever there was an action adventure game you should go right out and buy this is one of them. The game has quite a few jaw dropping moments, that you'll certainly be telling your friends about. The game has been out for a long time now and the sequel is about to be released, so you can find it relatively cheap. This game is worth every penny you spend on it, and an adventure you'll be glad you paid to be a part of!
This game was $8 where I bought it from, and I can say I've never gotten more out of $8 than I have with this game ! It's fun and unique and the ending blew me away ! I really would have given this game higher numbers, but I felt like I was fighting the camera for 90% of the game. While it's not a deal breaker it really is a nuisance in areas where certain death is assured without perfect movements. This game has great pacing, the opening 10 minutes are a heart pounding thrill ride that will have you wanting to delve deeper into the world you've suddenly been thrust into. The characters are really unique and voice acting is really superb with the likes of Andy Serkis (Lord of the rings/The Prestige) The world you play is a robot infested future wasteland, where robots and humans are on opposite sides of the field. This at it's heart is a hack and slash adventure, with an RPG like skill tree for abilities. Which you will want to explore to build your character growth up. This game took me by surprise and I can't stress enough that it's worth the low cost. The pacing is good, the story is good, and the characters will grow on you by the way it all unfolds. If you liked games like Darksiders, and Uncharted then you'll like this game to, it's an adventure that shouldn't be passed on. Especially because you can find it at such good pricing.
We all know what to expect out of a COD game, so if you've played one then you know how it plays and feels. What it really boils down to is story, presentation, multiplayer, and level design. The graphics are great, and the level design is incredible at times, but the story bounces around ALOT! You'll be all over the map, and not that it's a bad thing because one moment you're in a jungle, the next you're in the arctic on an abandoned ship. The story has some very strange twists in it, think Fight club sort of. There are some great set piece battles to be had in this game, but the story is all over the place so it does get really hard to follow sometimes. The multiplayer is where it's at for me in this game, and that's not usually the case for me in COD games, but with zombie modes and clever stage design, I found myself lost for hours in co-op and competitive online play. It's not knocked out of the park though, let me explain. I had frequent bug problems in the campaign that really made me angry and had to play stages several times. There is a trophy for escaping a stage with 2 min. 15 sec. on the clock which I had to do almost 5 times to get it to register. I also had a glitch/bug that I thought was part of the game that turned out to be one of the most disturbing and gruesome scenes I've ever seen in a game. Without any spoilers, your players sanity seems to be in question at one point and I realized that. I entered an area of the game and there were dead bodies hanging all over the ceiling and from lights, even hanging on walls ! I was blown away! So I asked a friend who had played what he thought about that gruesome part, and he was totally baffled at what I was talking about when I explained it. So I went back to that part to show him, and it was totally different ! Glitches aside the game really is fun, it might not be totally as beautiful as MW2 is, but it's personality totally makes up for it. Black ops is one of those games you'll hear 2 extremes on, people either really like it, or really don't. Me I like it..flaws or not, it's fun and that's why I play.
This game borrows from so many games it's hard not to love it, because it does a good job of blending so many elements. If God of war, Zelda, Uncharted, Prince of Persia all had a ****'d have Darksiders ! I bought this game without any suggestion from reviews or friends, I had $30 of in store credit and this just caught my eye for some reason. So I took it home and popped it in for about 20 minutes, and it sat for almost a year before I touched it again. You see a game really needs to grab me right away, and the opening to this game just wasn't paced right for me. I let it gather dust for a year and now I'm really sad I did, because when I finally gave it the time of day I was pleasantly surprised! While it does crawl to a start, once you get going the adventure just **** you in! The worlds are apocalyptic wastelands and ruins you explore trying to upgrade all your gear and figure out what's going on. The boss fights are nothing short of epic, and the voice acting is superb for the characters. I don't think I've ever been so excited to see the next boss, or meet the next character in the story as this game. There are lots of puzzles to solve and areas to explore, and the more gear you get the more you are going to want to revisit past areas with new abilities. By the end of the game you are totally equipped to handle anything and you'll want to explore every inch of this incredible world. I would have given this game a higher score, but the pacing in the beginning really did put me off for a long time, and there are a lot of frustrating puzzles that you wont have any clue what to do on. And the story is a little watered down. This game really is incredible, it mixes so many names in and really makes it stand out as it's own game. This game is really cheap these days, and the sequel is due out soon so there is no reason you should pass on this game at all. It's an incredible adventure, who's bosses are down right awesome! You're sure to have a good time with this one, if you like any of the games I've compared it to. Just be sure to tolerate the first 30 minutes and you won't be disappointed !
Gameplay = Plays alot like Prince of Persia, as far as climbing and swinging from ledge to ledge, also in its puzzle solving elements. Graphics = Im kind of 50/50 on because, some of the layouts look great, and the environments in some levels are breath taking. Sometimes youll watch a cut scene and look at the characters like meh. Controls = Were actually pretty easy to pick up and go, but I never did find myself wanting to get in a fistfight, because the reaction was a little off for my taste. The shooting wasnt bad and making your way around a level was pretty easy. Time = I myself got through it in around 7-8 hours, But if you were to try and collect all the treasures, and do everything there is to do it would probably run you somewhere around the 12-15 hour mark. Fun factor = Pretty high, it played like a movie and i did want to see the ending when it came, Id say its worth purchasing and playing through on harder levels, so it totally has replay value.
First off I don't understand why everybody was hating on this game so much. Its actually pretty good for the most part. I admit it had a couple quirks, but nothing that couldn't be overseen. The biggest issue I had was the checkpoints, sometimes you'd play for 15-20 minutes just to die and have to start all over, And when you've died 3-4 times you've probably been playing the same section for over an hour. Graphics = Pretty good animations on characters and dinos, nothing ground breaking though. Playability = Easy to figure out, challenging to finish. Sound = Keep an ear out cause you cant always see whats coming for you. Difficulty = Hard to make checkpoints at times, but not overwhelming. Learning curve = Id say an hour or two, just to get comfortable. Value = Maybe not $60 but for $20 its a good buy. Overall value = The Turok series has seen a stinker or 2, but this one shows they're on the right track. If you've never played Turok than this is the one to get started on, its the best one so far.
This game has got alot of bad press in my opinion. It's not horrible by any means. It's got plenty of humor and charm and lots of game references that I could appreciate. Graphics = Good cel shading and cut scene swap outs. Very nice visual style. Sounds = All the characters and voices from the show, dialog only gets old if you get stuck on the same part. Controls = Pretty simple and easy to use, learning everybody's weapon is the trick. Difficulty = Really hard at times because you're not shown what to do sometimes and you can get stuck. Once you figure out your path than it's not so bad. Playability = Easy to learn, good for adult and kid fans alike. Value = I wouldn't say a $60 game but used for say $20 or $25 it's worth it. If you're a big Simpsons fan this is a must. Overall value = If you've played any Simpson's game and wished it was better, than this is your game. Hasn't been one this fun since the old arcade. They even reference how bad their old games were.
Some horrible story telling and acting to boot. Poor A I, have given this game a bad name but it does manage to shine sometimes. Judging by all the other reviews I had read, I wasn't going to rent this. But you cant always believe everybody else either. Graphics = Not too bad, a couple cutscenes were noticeably muddy, but the stages looked great and characters were good. Sound = Effects are awesome, Voice acting is treacherous, enough to make you not like the game at first. Story = Not really the bread and butter of this game, standard change of heart bad guy to good. Controls = Responsive and easy, 1/4 through the game theyll change a bit though, with new abilities Learning curve = About 15 minutes because the enemy AI is so bad it wont matter how good you are really. Value = I seen this game for $20 new at best buy, Id say if you can find it used for $10-15 pick it up. Overall value = The story, acting **** pretty bad but once you get down to the core gameplay its still a good game, There are a couple levels that will blow you away, but others that just suffer. Rent first, decide later.
This game totally takes me back to the PS2 classic Freekstyle. Gigantic jumps, massive air, and intense racing! This game is by no means realistic...just the way I like it. If you like extreme stunts that aren't possible, check this game out. Graphics = The stages look great and the backgrounds are breathtaking at times, the characters are a little bland but that's not what the game is about. Sound = The sound effects are great, especially when you take off from a huge drop and all sounds drowned out except the wind. Music = Wasn't too impressed with the soundtrack but it is good for racing I suppose. Controls = Pick up and go, the tricks come gradually giving you time to learn easy to hard in that order. Difficulty = Learning which course uses what bike may be a little challenging, because of the in depth create a bike section. Your tires play a bigger role than most realize. Fun factor = I'm totally hooked so yeah its good, check out the demo on PSN to see how you like it. Replay value = With the seemingly limitless bike combination's , and online sprints, races, and free roam, you could rack up alot of replay time. Overall value = If you're into extreme over the top thrills than this is a must own for racing fans
I really don't understand all the dirt being kicked at Midway for this game, honestly. Its not horrible like some of the reviews I've seen, true it is short but the game itself is pretty good. Graphics - Muddy at times but never distracting, its the girl next door not the model. Seriously not that bad though. Sound - Fitting as far as guns and effects go. The voice acting is a little blah. Story - Intriguing at first but drags out in the middle a little, I'll say I didn't know the end was the end though. Playability - Pick up and go if you've ever played a first person shooter. Fun factor - I'd play it again I really would, I think this game caught some undeserved flak. The multiplayer isn't as good as some other games of the same genre but its not bad. Replay value - Unlockable content and higher difficulties are some of the things it has to offer, Id play again. Value - For $20 its not bad, $60 might be a little too steep seeing as there's a slew of games in this genre which are better. Overall value - Don't buy the negative hype, try it yourself. Rent it like I did and see how well it fits you, If you absolutely hate it like some say they do, at least you didn't fork over $60.
Limbo is very intriguing from the start, The story is left to the imagination to determine. To some people this may be a bad thing, but I personally couldn't wait to delve deeper into this dark, and creepy world. The game is a trial and error puzzle/situation solver. There are plenty of gruesome ways our protagonist can die, and in fact you will do a lot of dying before total success can be achieved, for death awaits around every corner. The world is full of booby traps, and do or die puzzles, and even giant lurking spiders! It's very easy to lose track of time while playing this game, the art style and perfect ambiance of sounds around you can easily lull you into a long session of survival. The black and white color scheme doesn't take away from the game at all, in fact I think it helps with the games dark personality. The nameless character easily draws you into his world of desperation, and survival. At times you really feel the sense of fight or flight, whether you're running for your life from a giant spider, or you are deep within a pitch black tunnel or hallway. Very few games are as unique as Limbo, and when people ask can games be art? I think we all can point a finger at Limbo and say absolutely! This game is captivating and very imaginative with a style all it's own. This is a must play for anybody who truly appreciates when a game brings a little bit of everything to the table. Play and enjoy, it's worth the price!
