A real gem in the GBA library, I’ve beaten this game over and over maybe 35 times. I love this game, it’s so freaking good, I can’t recommend it highly enough. Check it out.

Great on the PS3: 9. Runs poorly on 360: 6. While the single player isn’t quite as great as it’s sequel Transformed, it’s still a must have for the characters that aren’t in it’s sequel.

Super Magnetic Neo10
Nov 21, 2024
Why is Super Magnetic Neo my favorite Dreamcast game of all time? Well, for nostalgic reasons mostly: It is a 3D platformer and those are my favorite genre, it stands tall in a generation crowded with good to freaking great games.(Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, Mario Sunshine, Voodoo Vince, I-Ninja, Vexx, Tork, Sonic Adventure 1 and Heroes, Sly 1,2 and 3, Ratchet and Clank 2 and 3, Jak and Daxter, as well as Daxter [PSP]) But mostly I still love it so much because it keeps pulling me back, something the exceptional Rayman 2 unfortunately has not done. First things first Neo is HARD as **** nails, especially the last 40% of the game. Something that obviously caused the nancy boy who reviewed it for IGN to give it an unfair 6.9. Just head over to Youtube to get a glimpse of the bright, vibrant visuals and the wonderful score. What that won't tell you however is that this was an early second gen game that a) still looks amazing b) runs at a constant 60 fps, providing sublime control and c) is filled with wonderful play mechanics never seen before of since. Genki the devs behind all this magic have you flinging happy go lucky Neo all over hell and back, up and down, to and fro. If you have a gaming rig that can emulate Dreamcast games this deserves to be your next stop. If, however, you have to pony up $50-80 to the ebay gods to play this woefully under appreciated masterwork then I do have to forewarn you that this game gets Mega Man/Dark Souls hard in the end, especially the time trials, if your a completionist stay away from these they will drive up a wall. This is the holy grail of Dreamcast games.

I have never played a triple A game that controls this badly, every movement feels like your either moving through molasses or floating. Constant hand holding and infuriating breaks where control is ripped away from you. Top it all off with an asinine story

Tork: Prehistoric Punk9
Oct 30, 2013
Tork is a little known, almost forgotten, terribly underated platformer for the OG Xbox. Birthed into the world after a torrid developemnt cycle that would see it dropped by Ubisoft, then flounder at another publisher (Microsoft), get dropped by them and then picked back up by Ubisoft to be released for a budget price (the tidy sum of $20). Tork is certainly worth a thorough perusing. Developed by first time developer Tiwak, it was their one and only game (joining Voodoo Vince in this regard). Tork is, sort of, the 128 bit Bonk we never got. Starting off in pre-historic times all of Tork's fellow villagers and family are kidnaped and It's up to Tork to fight and platform his way through the winding stages to get to them. I really like this game and i don't think it ever got a chance to show enough people how good it is. It’s just so satisfying swinging your sling or flinging it at enemies and items. Solid platforming and great audio cues elevate this into very good territory. However there are a few quibbles here and there. The game is tough, especially as it seems it was aimed at kids. The game is rightly criticized for a lack of variety, but I'd rather have strong core gameplay without variety than with variety that **** (here's looking at you Sly 1 and every PS1 RPG). All in all Tork is not a great game, definately a good one, though. If your up for a challenge/ are in your 20's or younger (making your reflexes sharper) than you'll probally like lil' old Tork as much as I do. The core gameplay is just to strong. B+

This is an excellent game, only let down by late game bs attempting to elongate play time artificially. The first 8 hours of this game are great fun. Not every world is great but overall this is much better than its baffling scores.

Underneath a lazy port that has bad collision detection (an issue present in the ps4 release) are three great games, that frankly should look better than it does. This collection solves the worst problem present in the originals; their brevity. Only buy if this is your only system that runs it.

A really good game that’s a little rough around the edges. Think wind waker mixed with platforming and a dash like a 3D Celeste.

Terrible graphics and a weird battle system, most likely reviewed well based on a lack of competition in the RPG category on the Cube.

A return to form for the series, but the hard mode takes things to far and is borderline impossible. You have to play as baby and even then I’ve never got through to the extreme difficulty. Even so this looks good and feels great, it’s the best SMB since the second GameCube game. It’s a huge plus that you can play multiplayer with one vita; passing it back and forth, but there are only a couple of modes for this. Far better than the 3ds outing: which was too easy and the 3ds analog stick just couldn’t deliver adequate control.

The core gameplay is just super weak. Cannon fodder everywhere then tough boss fights that are a little better. Total crap, stay away. I’m surprised Nintendo let this be done to one of their most beloved franchises.

Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Marz9
Oct 4, 2014
While not quite as good as it's prequel( VO Ontario Tangram) on the dreamcast Virtual on Marz is a good game made better by it's lengthy single player campaign. It's a unique take on the fighting genre where the camera follows directly behind you, which means multilayer is split screen. If you don't have friends to play with this makes Marz the better choice over VOOT. Having the twin sticks on the controller allows you to play with the original twin stick control scheme, although I prefer the default control scheme(pro-tip: stop completely before rotating with the right stick you'll move faster) My only complaints are changes in color schemes of the mechs, how ridiculously long it takes to unlock new mechs in the single player, a less interesting arcade mode and switching my favorite character to his alternate vehicle mode.

Virtua Tennis 26
Mar 2, 2014
Ugh, what a missed opportunity. Take one of the all time great sports games and add the women's draw and Patrick Rafter, what could possibly go wrong? This represents the rapid decline of once great developer am3( Hitmaker) terminating with the horrendous crazy taxi 3. For starters there's no Roddick or Federer, of Agassi and Sampras, though Sampras would apear in later Virtua Tennis games. Then there's the name change from Virtuia Tennis 2 to Tennis 2K insinuating that VC developed the game, as well as the fact that the female players looked considerably worse than their male counterparts, although this is forgivable considering the male models are reused from the 1st game and the short development time and work load. Am3 made VT2 and Crazy Taxi 2, Virtual On Force(arcade) and a port of Confidential Mission all came out in 2001. The cherry on top of this sundae is the terrible season mode. Ditching the 1st games mode where you chose a real tennis player and took on opponents who were much weaker than you in the beginning. Working you way up to the fiendishly difficult Arthur Ashe clone(grand master) while purchasing gear and clothes. Instead in Tennis 2K you create 2 characters, which is cool, except their much weaker than your opponents. Making this burn even worse is you have to switch back and forth to build up their stats making it take twice as long too level up. Agony. Stick with the much better prequel.

Quite simply this is the best 3rd person shooter on the xbox. While the graphics are a little rough, the humorous cut scenes really propel you along: encouraging you to get through the game. The humor is also present in the, admittedly shallow, weapon selection. Later in the game there are several jetpac levels spicing things up a little. A great game, if you're not interested in buying it definitely watch the cut scenes on youtube.
