Metroid Prime 4: Beyond9
Dec 17, 2025
It has great highs but a lot of lows. Although most of the lows are more like slightly-below-mediums, even when its bad its still kinda good. The good parts, however, are some of the most magical feeling sequences I've felt from a Nintendo game in years.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom9
Oct 1, 2024
Although it is not traditional Zelda (as you do not play as Link), Echoes of Wisdom succeeds in being the 2d Zelda game we've all been hoping for. The gameplay is very fun, and the echoes are a very fun and creative game mechanic that sets this game apart from pretty much any other game. The level design is superb, as we finally have semi-traditional dungeons! They're admittedly quite easy, and the progression isn't based on items like it was previously (instead you progress forward using new unique Echoes the game gives you), but they're still very well-designed dungeons that use the Echo mechanic to make some of the most creative puzzles you'll ever see in a Zelda game. In terms of progression, they've managed to take the best of both worlds from both the open-air games and the linear titles of old, and this combination is essentially the best I was hoping for. The Echoes are often a bit janky though, they often don't do what you want them to do.

Kirby: Planet Robobot10
Aug 20, 2024
Despite being a game that came out in an age when Nintendo was churning out a lot of basic and uninspired 2d platformers, this one reminds us the true incredible potential of the 2d genre. Like all Kirby games, it has very little focus on precision platforming, and instead emphasizes combat and puzzles in a 2d platforming space, with LOTS of secrets. To compliment these mechanics, the game design is very compact and action-packed, giving you something to do every few steps. This game controls beautifully and has a wealth of mechanics. There are many MANY copy abilities, some of which are frequently used throughout the game and others of which are rolled out in specific worlds. This game's main gimmick, the mech suit, is incredibly fun and versatile. It gives you a new bulky and powerful moveset that's compatible with all copy abilities and has a ton of unique gameplay applications. A few copy abilities combined with the mech suit can even change the mech-suit moveset entirely into ANOTHER new moveset with new mechanics. The mech-suit is the best gameplay gimmick in any of Nintendo's 2d platformers aside from the Wonder Flower in Super Mario Bros Wonder. The world aesthetics are great. Typical 2d platformer world themes like grasslands and deserts are combined with this game's theming of machinery and robotics to make some VERY cool and unique world aesthetics. Plus some fully unique world themes that don't take from other 2d platformers at all. One of the few problems is the level progression. Planet Robobot has the same level progression as every other 2d platformer ever, just beat a level and unlock the next one in a linear on-rails overworld map. Many 3d platformers have much more unique level progression even in linear games, and I think 2d platforms would be much less polarizing if they tried to adapt this kind of level progression. With a game as great as Planet Robobot, I can only imagine how good it would be if it had more interesting progression that wasn't identical to the progression in most other platformers. Amazing game, one of the best 2d platformers out there. If you don't like 2d platformers, it's because you haven't played one like this yet.

Game shows it's age a bit and the controls aren't the best, but it's still an amazing game. Great core formula and gameplay loop, great design, great storytelling despite the story being so simple, the caves are really fun, the treasure mechanic is satisfying, and the Pikmin are adorable!

This is just... wow. What can I even say? This game is superb. Great opening area, great map in general(they made it fresh despite being the same one from BOTW!), the new gimmicks with fuse and ultrahand would seem ridiculous once upon a time, but they're the natural progression from Breath of the Wild. Unfortunately the framerate isn't great, but this isn't really TOTK's fault, it's the Switch's, and the chip shortage likely prevented them from making a Switch pro. There are other cons, but they're far outweighed by the pros. I spent like 20 hours on this game in the opening weekend alone, and I could go for much longer. The world is just filled to the brim with so much stuff to do! One of the Switch's best games for sure. I see people saying it doesn't deserve the $70 price tag because it looks and runs worse than the other next gen games that are priced for $70, but while graphics ARE Important don't get me wrong, this game justifies it's price tag in other ways. It's definitely worth $10 more than most Switch games priced at $60. Yes, many Switch games are overpriced at even that amount, but many others are plenty worth $60, and TOTK is worth $10 more than those aswell. Fantastic game.

Metroid: Samus Returns10
Mar 20, 2023
Mercury Steam did a great job on Dread, but they did an amazing job on Samus Returns! The atmosphere and isolation is incredibly deep, and the metroids are actually really satisfying fights despite being repeating bosses(definitely the best implementation of repeating bosses I've ever seen in a video game). You traverse the world area by area instead of intertwining areas, but each area is incredibly open and a blast to explore, so the typical metroid exploration/adventure feel is bigger than ever before despite the area by area structure. Additionally, the option of fast travel allows for backtracking all over the older areas when you need some upgrades. I found myself going back to just grab a few missile expansions, then spending half an hour combing over each one of the old zones because there was so many and I couldn't stop. Best 2d metroid for SURE.

Metroid Prime Remastered10
Mar 19, 2023
Before, this was already one of my favorite games ever, but between the new controls and the graphical overhaul that looks so good that it makes the original look BAD somehow(which I don't understand, because the original metroid prime looks great, but somehow they made it look bad in comparison.) Everything other than that is just more of the same old glorious Metroid Prime, which is a really **** great game. Hell yeah. HELL YEAH!

greatest game of all time, would give a 12/10 if this website let me. Most people who don't like this game just have trouble getting into a game with this big a scope, which is fair. Minecraft: Story Mode - Episode 4: A Block and a Hard Place10
Nov 13, 2021
minecraft storymode is my second favorite game of all time, and my first favorite is actual minecraft. And this is the best episode of both seasons and the expansion pack. It's PHENOMENAL. Every major decision from every episode has some influence here. People always complain how this game isn't a true chose your own adventure game, but I like the minor details personally. And this one has so many minor details, I've replayed this episode countless times to spot out every one. There's only really one decision here that I don't like the minor implications of, but it's still alright and it has good overall story purposes. I. Love. This.

Minecraft: Story Mode Season Two - Episode 1: Hero in Residence10
Nov 13, 2021
I'm not gonna lie, both minecraft storymode season 1 and 2 are in my top 3 games ever made. And the 3rd of the 3(the taker of the #1 spot) is, you guessed it, minecraft. Hero In Residence is my favorite episode in season 2, it's so cool man. And I HATE guardians in minecraft. And when I say hate I mean I have an irrational fear of them. But despite that I still love this game to death, story mode is so fun. All of the details everyone hates about it is EXACTLY WHY I LOVE IT. It's cinematic in an interactive manner, it tells a fun story while giving you control over some of the minor stuff, it completely diverts from normal minecraft in ways I wish WAS in normal minecraft. 10/10

Great game, AMAZING story, Pog Graphics, Generally Fun Gameplay and exploration, controls COULD be better but they are by no means bad, and overall one of the best gaming experiences on the switch. it's not the BEST metroid game, since it's easier to get lost then most of the other ones, and the bosses are WAY to hard, but the EMMI zones are REALLY fun.

great game for it's time(the first 3d platformer) but it aged horribly. Also odyssey does the concept of open world mario way better structurally speaking. there's still some fun to be had though

If you like cute goofy games with replay value over single playthrough playtime, and don't mind or prefer easy games.... this game right here. It's short, and it's ridiculously easy, and I don't care at all, it's fun. I beat this game after playing it for a few hours each day for 3 days, and overall I somehow ended up with 25 hours on this game later on simply because of how much fun i had. I BOUGHT my switch for this game.

haven't played many racing games, mostly just mario kart and other f-zero games. But of them, this is the best. Best graphics, great high speed racing, friggin COMBAT mid race, machine customization, plenty of different vehicles to pick from, an awesome story mode which is... overly hard but still pog, a multiplayer mode which... could be better but still fun. I've spent hours playing the racing modes on this and I rarely beat them but when I do I feel great. Every race is incredibly fun. It is a damn shame this was the last 3d game.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes8
Aug 21, 2021
Pretty dang good game I'd say, had a lot of fun. I liked every location in this game I've been in so far(I haven't beaten it yet, I'm up to power bomb guardian), and the core concept of a lot of things this game does it great. It rivals prime in it's music design, and while prime has great graphics compared to modern games, it doesn't compared to the other 2 prime games, because this game looks GOOD. The controls are... well, you know gamecube primes controls, but they do work thanks to the lock on. This games puzzles are awesome(and I don't like puzzle games). I enjoyed getting lost here. But that's the problem, I DID get lost. And while, especially in the second main area, it was fun at first, it DOES get annoying after a while, and this game is way easier to get lost in then in every other game. The enemys were all fun to fight, BUT they were definitely spongy without the light and dark beams. The bosses are also great, SUPER fun, but they have quite a bit of waiting to them to get the weak spot(I didn't really have a problem with that personally but other people did) I only really had a problem with 3 of the bosses, but even then I still had good fun. I LOVE the dark world to death, apart from the times it nodded me in the wrong direction which was more then once but other then that it felt awesome. This game uses different takes on combat and exploration than prime, making it a fresh experience. But I've mentioned quite a few problems in this, so it won't get to high. On a tier list it'd probably be near the bottom of A tier, and for an out of 100 review score, I'd say I'd give it an 81 at minimum and an 83 at most. but since I have a scale of 10 here, I'll give it a 8.

Metroid Fusion9
Aug 20, 2021
In no way is this the best Metroid game, but it is definitely a great one. It's take on exploration isn't very Metroid of it, but it still feels like it is even it if isn't, and the old backtrack formula comes back near the end of the game. The artificial environments are done really well, and that plus the more on-edge atmosphere that this game goes for, makes great immersion. The bosses become a little to frequent towards the end, but the general boss design in this game, may be the best in the series. This game's story is really well written and feels like Metroid, and it has an awesome difficulty spike that while may not be the only tough game in the series(echoes and SR), it's definitely the most famously difficult one, which is NOT a bad thing(and I'm not good at video games and I'm saying that). it loses points though because of to many bosses near the end and the firing in random directions adventure aspect of the game is done wrong on multiple occasions. I'd give it an 88 if this was a 100 scale, but it's not, so 9/10 it is.

Objectively the best 2d platformer I have ever played despite being kinda-sorta not 2d. (subjectively I like a couple kirby games more, I played em as a kid and i'm just a **** for kirby) People say that between the 2 games woolly world is better. I'd disagree, crafted worlds brings so much to the table without being gimmicky in the main gameplay. When it IS gimmicky, it leaves it to optional parts, like playing on the flip side.

I decided I didn't play enough indy games and wanted to play a cool metroidvania, so I looked around, and bought this. Wish I didn't. It's meant to be a metroidvania, but I spent a lot of the game just pushing forward in one direction, getting killed, and trying again until I got past it. Metroid fusion's difficulty made for a really fun experience, but this didn't. At one point, I had just beaten a boss, and while I had a checkpoint, I was unable to save until I got past a very tough location. I kept dying, and getting set back to the checkpoint. I couldn't give up and go do something else, because then I'd have to beat the boss again. Eventually I just left my switch on and went to do something else, since I was just done. There was one point in this entire game I felt like I was having some good action and exploration and REAL FUN, good fun too. I spoiled most metroid games for myself before playing them, so it was fresh. I'd had some slight fun for other parts of the game, but that part was the only time I had real fun. But that was the only time, it was pretty short, and after that I got stuck again and finally gave up. If it weren't for that part though I'd be giving it a lower score. Good to know that seeing these reviews, it was the games fault not mine. Would not recommend.

Mario Tennis Aces8
Jun 14, 2021
What i've seen from this, either you love it or you hate. I'm in the first half. It either seems people like this game for it's great take on tenis, or you hate this game, because of lack of content. And to be fair, the campaign is pretty short(ok it actually did take me a while, but I'm just bad at video games) and I've heard people say it's repetitive. They're right about the short campaign, but it's still a good campaign, if a little cheesy. And the ending is pretty dang cool. The repetitiveness... I mean, there's only so much you can do with a tennis game, and frankly I think they did a pretty sweet job in keeping things fresh. But good for a tennis game might not be enough for you, and without thinking of it in that context... I guess it can maybe be repetitive(which might be why the campaign is short in the first place, they don't want people getting bored)? Also it's the campaign mode of a mario sports game, it's not going to be the focus. The free play modes are. And I played the free play modes for a while after. You can play with hazards, a natural court, or a normal court, and the different players also keep things spiced up(personally I only go with the all around guys, but I do that with every game) there's a bunch of special moves you can also do to keep the game interesting. I've heard people say all these things make the game stray to much like regular tennis, and... it's a mario sports game, if you want normal tennis why are you here(also you can turn all the special stuff off and play normal if you want) also, the tournament modes can keep it even more interesting if your done with normal 1v1s with CPUs, your friends, or online Randoms. Pretty interesting over all, though I still got to dock some points for the normal campaign being short, and... well... if people have problems with it in the first place, that's got to come from somewhere, and I'm seeing some 4s on here. Anyways, if you don't like this game, then mario tennis in general probably isn't your thing. And if you do, glad to here it!
