Unlike other games like smackdown, the TNA's and others during it's time and after, this game contains a huge roster, tons of moves and customization. Unfortunately it is 2D and takes some getting used to when it comes to the moves you can do. Your patience and time practicing will pay off as it is an addicting game. Right now this is one of my favorites, up there with the No Mercy's and Wrestlemania 2000's.
Ok, a rating of 10 may seem odd to some of you. PS Home is a social network of sorta, similar to second life where you walk around meeting people, playing games, party, run clubs/Families and participating in events that happen in PSH. It is also good that I waited this long in order to review home cause if I had done this review back when home had very few locations and almost every avatar looked the same, this would have more than likely had a rating of 4-5 out of 10. PSH now has more variety; you now have TV available in your apartments (must purchase TV's & Radios), more clothes, portable items, pets/companions, mounts (bikes, motor bikes, creatures & the list goes on), you also have a decent selection of animations you can purchase, tons of spaces to visit and way more games available. On another note, home adds another way to interact and get to know people which is not offered on any other platform outside of PC. I am one of the many who's sunk in over $300.00 in less than a few months on PSH items, clubhouses, clothes, mounts, apartments, furniture, arcade cabinets and well this list goes on as well. Home is still in beta and will always he a beta as it will always continue improving. If you have not been on home since when Central Plaza was around, you might as well try it now as it is way better now with abpot more to do. Home also has free rewards on several mini games, some retail games offer home rewards as well just in case some of you did not know but that practice is dying off. PS Home is part of what makes owning a PS3 worth it. I have met some good people but also met some serious trolls, this is something that happens even on games online so trolls will be trolls, at least you can ignore & report. Home does have lots for users to do so once you're in and manage to purchase items and meet new people you will be hooked automatically… as I said, if you own a PS3 a highly recommend trying it out.
I'm going to point out the pros & cons. I will admit that I am a huge fan of the Battlefield series & I consider it one of the best shooters on consoles. BF3 Improves on where others failed (BC series). The multiplayer is where it shines as always. Dice's frostbite engine makes the battlefield come to life, 32 player battles on destructible environments is amazing. I feel the maps affect your play style, for example maps like metro will put your CQC to the test, shotties & SMG's can rule the battlefield; the battle centers in the tunnel while a team can be pushed outside to the buildings outside of the train station, the other can be pushed furthe in. Other maps will require you to learn how to use a Heli, Jets, Tanks and transport. Bullet drop makes sniping rewarding when you have determine distance & timing. Unlike COD, shooting and getting those hit ratios or headshots at long distances requires actual practice. The one man army or Rambo's don't stand a chance here, trick shots neither, BF3 is a game for serious shooter fans IMO. This game requires actual teamwork for you to get an upperhand in matches, battles are some of the most intese I have experienced in any shooter up to date. Tons of unlockables, huge maps & a good selection of vehicles to choose from (when players are not spawn camping vehicles). Co-op & single player campaign: Co-op I would only recommend for unlocking certain weapons (or just pay for them on the PSN store & save time) & sp campaign is nowhere near as good as BC's.... not even worth mentioning.... it's that bad. Pros: -Maps are huge. -Tons of unlockables (dogtags, weapons, attatchments, vehicle abilities & camo). -Intense squad based battles. -Graphic look beautiful. -Vehicles (finally jets on consoles) -DLC support is great (introducing new vehicles & weapons). Cons: -VoIP Chat is buggy -Vehicle Dominance is a big thing... one great chopper pilot can destroy a whole team, this is rare but it happens & when it does it's bad news even when you are on the winning team. There's a term for these type of situation but it's not appropriate for me to use the phrase in my review lol... Base*****. -Hit detection can be buggy at times too. So that is why I give it a 9 out of 10. Suggestions I have would be to improve VoIP chat on the next installmen & give the next entry more Beta testing time in order to avoid bugs because when we purchased at launch we ended up with a few game breaking bugs. That's it for my BF3 review on PS3.
I know 10/10 is questionable but I have so many memories with this installment. It kept the whole survival horror aspect, File 2 was of course the best out of the two. I will always consider this the best & the most fun. The characters were not super cops nor soldiers or skilled fighters. Each character had their own stats and special abilities (excluding unlockable skins). Voice chat was a complain some had, voice chat was only allowed in the lobby but not in game, This could have ruined the game in some ways due to the fact that locating a partner who needs help would have been a cake walk, so no in game chat was a huge plus because it kept players on their toes. Having the ability to talk to players would have ruined most of the memorable moments that scared us and had our hearts pumping. Proximity chat would have been very welcomed, never the less it did not ruin the experience at all. When a game leaves you with unforgettable memories (funny, scary, suspensful or plain fun) then you know it is a great game. The outbreak series is by far one of those hidden gems, a cult classic perse'. I for one wish this game got a decent makeover like RE1 did on the NGC. Pros: -Survival Horror at it's finest. -Normal characters who did not posess super skills but rather required teamwork. -Teamwork was a must; if an allly was injured you could help them up but risk was involved. -Bio-monsters from past cannon entries make an appearance as well as new ones. -The exclusion of in game chat added to the experience. Players had preset voice commands that were muffled if you were indoors & sounded distant if you were far of course. Cons: -Community was considerably small. -The marketting for this title was so bad that most people know nothing about it. -Bad timing, this title would have done better on current gen console. Unfortanately this is an online only title (you won't survive alone), so the chances of going back to experience this cult classic are very slim as I am sure the servers are dead & the chances of a remake or sequel ar also slim due to how obscure this great title was. I for one hope to see a revival or a good remake of file 1 & 2.
I give it a 5 out of 10 & that's only cause of Mercenaries mode which is the best Mercs mode in the series. RE6's campaigns are lackluster at best. The plot is dull & quite predictable. This game is a rent, not a buy. I played and finished all campaigns in less than 3 days, after completing the campaigns I went to Mercs mode where I found more replayability than in the actual game. What made the Mercs mode in RE6 so fun was the fact that you now have more of a strategy fo all enemy types. You can now roll, dodge, do combo attacks & tackle attacks that either stun or knock the enemy off it's feet; like previous Mercs mode this is best played with a partner. Now... the campaign is no different than 4 & 5 with the exception of the new control mechanics, aside from that the AI partner is more helpful unlike in RE5... but the enemy AI is some of the worst I have seen, like standing in the line of fire & doing nothing at times. Survival horror is non-existing in this nor the past two numbered installments. It's an action game with monsters in it & nothing else. Rent the game first, wait for the next installment & pray for the best. Anyone telling you otherwise is more than likely.
I give Borderlands 2 a 9/10 because it's fun, graphically nice, tons of sidequests, tons of loot(weapons, shield & character specific items) & the fact that Gearbox keeps the DLC. coming is a huge plus. Recently a new vault hunter was announced & an increased level cap beyond 50. The reason I believe that players think the game can be repetitive is because if you do not have all of the doc you will need to repeat some missions with a 2nd playthrough in order to work towards level 50; I have 3 DLC mission packs and before completing my first playthrough I had gained a level 36, the second time around you can choose a new mode called true vault hunter mode where you get tougher enemies & better loot; few enemies have new variations but it keeps you on your toes. The game is beat experienced with 4 friends, if you're a loner or are stuck with RANDOMS who hog all the loot then you're going to have a really bad experience and possibly a hard time finishing the game. This game was meant to be played with friends and it has tons to offer if you're willing to do even the boring side quests. Like any game which relies on main and side quests, you have to really dive into them to enjoy the game and get a better understanding of what is actually going on in that world. Very few console titles in this genre can do what Borderlands 2 does so kudos to the developers for keeping up the good work and still supporting it's community with new DLC.
I have always been a fan of the Tekken series and as cliche as this may sound, TTT was the best installment during it's time. Tekken Tag 2 brings back the tag team battle fun with a few extras that have been introduced in recent installments as well as new tag maneuvers such as great tags(specific manually input tag team combos that look good), tag grapples as well as tag bounds. Character customization is nothing spectacular but fun to use. The game as usual has a steep learning curve, the steepest out of all fighting games I have played but taking the time to practice will pay off when you're able to pull off those insane tag team juggles. Would I highly recommend? No, I say rent it first cause the steep learning curve can be a turn off for a lot of newcomers who are used to 2D fighters or games where button mashing can actually help you get a win. Tekken requires time and dedication, even a seasoned player can hop in and get owned if they're to arrogant and avoid learning the new mechanics. If you want a game that may test your limits in terms of skill and patience then yes, I recommend it. If you're not into the steepness save your money cause it will get old and repetitive quite fast.
